Great movie line!

I was just watching "Tropic Thunder". Pretty funny movie. Nick Nolte plays a character named Four Leaf Tayback, a grizzled Viet Nam vet.

Nolte and the guy that runs the demolition stuff on the set are talking:

Demo Guy: "That's a nice sidearm. What kind is it?"

Tayback (Nolte...in a deep, raspy, Clint Eastwood type of voice while looking over the jungle with a 1000yd stare): "I don't know what it's called. I just know the sound it makes when it takes a man's life." [ROFL1]

I thought that was quite possibly the best gun line ever said in a movie. And you could use it so many scenarios when someone asks you a question.

I've seen Tropic Thunder at least a dozen times....Booty Sweat and Bust-a-nut bars....classic!

Hilarious movie. Excellent line. That line can probably be heard at 99% of guns shows by the DeltaSEALBeret Spec OPS guys.[ROFL1][ROFL2]

got to disagree. that movie like most other ben stiller movies sucked. sure there were a few funny "quoteable lines" over all a waste of time.

But he sure THINKS he's funny.

I did enjoy his performance in There's Something About Mary, but that was the last time I watched a movie that he was in that I cared at all for his performance.

I don't hate him, I just think there is too much hype over him. As I said in an earlier post, I only enjoyed his performance in There's Something About Mary. I think he's gone downhill from there. While I enjoyed the movies Meet the Parents and Meet the Faulkers, I didn't enjoy Stillers performances in either movie.

Well, personally, I'm not a fan of too many Hollywood types, either. And I'm not a big fan of Stiller. He's made me laugh occasionally but he's not a favorite.

I thought the movie was tolerably watchable and had some funny lines. That's all I was commenting on...a good line that was gun related.

I'm more of a Robert Duvall western or "Black Hawk Down" war movie kinda guy.

I did think it was pretty funny when Stiller comes running back over the bridge at the end of the movie with his "son", Half Squat, attached to his back, stabbing him with that little knife. Tom Cruise played a good character in that movie, too.

BTW: After being a Dish Network customer for about 17 years I finally bitched about the crappy, old, obsolete equipment enough that they got tired of listening. They sent a guy out who installed all new HD DVRs throughout the house, upgraded us to HD service and gave us free HBO, Showtime and Cinemax for 6 months...all at no charge. So, I'm catching up on a lot of movies I've never seen and that I'd never pay to go see in a theater.

I guess my prevous posts should have included the fact that I haven't seen Tropic Thunder - yet, but I will watch it for general principles on the fact this it's supposed to be a comedy. And I do agree that the line quoted that started this thread is a great quote -- I expect I'll be using it at some point.
