Give your recommendations on bipods for Remington 700. They can either be swivel mounted or mounted directly to a rail. Anything other than Harris. I have Harris now and I like it. I have done the Harris research. Just looking for other options.

I have both GG&G and Atlas bipods. Can't say I'm a fan of the GG&G. It's large and the swivel on it doesn't lock up as tight as I would like it. Considering they're in the same price range, I would have been happier with a second Atlas.

Noah @ Ark is an Atlas / Accushot dealer now. I picked one up from him recently.
I resisted Atlas as well, now I have three. Two Pic Rail mounts and one QD that I move around to all the 2nd class rifles that don't get their own Atlas.

I used to only use Harris for everything from hunting rifles to my precision rigs. However, after I broke 3 Harris bipods, I wanted other options. Tried an Atlas from a friend while out with him and will never go back to Harris. I take care of my things incredibly well, yet Harris seem to break on me when I was not doing anything other than regular range shooting when all of them have broke. The Atlas are a lot more sturdy to me and offer way more angled options. Cost more for sure but the quality is HUGE.

I'll throw my hat in the ring for suggesting the Atlas, I scoffed at first at the price, but they really are worth it.

Second, one of the legs on mine is jacked. It slips past the detent and folds one notch back every now and again. That's no good.
These two things make it worthless to me.
I took a 4 day precision class last year. By the 2nd day, I ditched my brand new Atlas and used an instructor's QD Harris for the remainder of the class. Much more stable. And the 3 USMC and 1 Army sniper who were the instructors all swore by the Harris, for what it's worth.
Harris are great for certain uses but don't compete with atlas sounds like you either broke your bipod or got a defective one. A lot of former mil guys swear by something because they used it in the mil. That doesn't make it great.Quote:

For the issue with the detent on yours specifically, Call B&T Industries, they'll fix it. They've been nothing but helpful to anyone I know that's had to have one fixed for whatever reason. At least then if you're still unhappy with it, you can sell it and not take a nasty hit on it.
I'll take the GG&G over Harris for two reasons:
1) GGG doesn't try to cut off fingers like the spring loaded Harris.
2) The feet on the GGG seem to dig in better
I prefer Atlas.
I'd write them and send pics, explain the leg behavior and see if they ID it as defective and replace it.

I also find it valuable when I'm looking at a new product to get honest reviews even when they may not be positive. Others sometimes find that valuable as well which is why I shared. Sorry it didn't tow the party line.
I will say that part of my loyalty to them doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the product itself, although I'd never give props to or use a product I'm not actually impressed with, is that they support the competitive side of precision rifle shooting a TON and especially the PRS. I've seen their product and normally multiples of it, on every PRS match prize table I've been in front of. Many times sponsoring a stage and offering up product and $$$ at matches. At the 2015 Snipers Hide Cup, I was fortunate enough to pick up a PSR Bipod with all the goodies (leg extensions, spiked feet, and the storage pouch) off the table and they had at least 10 of them in total on the table. (that's like $4K worth of product to a single match) So they've otherwise earned my loyalty in addition to their product and customer service which in my experience has been top notch. They don't sponsor me personally but B&T has done a lot to support the sport so I in turn support them.
Granted this doesn't mean squat to the non-competitive shooter, but it means a lot to guys like me.
Just an FYI, the Warne one has been slated for a SHOT 2018 release date.
