Sheep regs question... am I reading right?

Looking through the Sheep/Got regs tonight and something caught my eye:

Does this mean that you can't use a GoPro on a sheep or goat hunt? I get the smart scope part, but the no live action camera part kinda threw me. I know I've seen Youtube videos of Sheep hunts in Colorado?
The regular Big Game regs don't have anything close to that wording that I could see, so I guess it's specific to Sheep and Goats?
Can anyone shed some light on that?

I'd think that if ISIS was a problem in the Colorado mountains, I'd want all the tech help I could get to wipe them out.... drones, GPS tracking, smart scopes, all bets are off...

I took hunter Safety with my kid in the fall. The instructor from CPW told us a story about someone who owned a large ranch selling online hunts. Hunters used their computer to remote control a rifle and shoot big game on the ranch. That was the reason given for the cameras and electronic communication stuff.

I don't read a GoPro as live action because it simply records the action.

But you can stream/live-feed it.

Getting into atf-style rule interpretation here.

My feeling is the use of a body camera (or similar), while you are actively pursuing a specific animal that you have a tag for, is not going to raise any red flags. Remote scouting, tracking, etc., is going to draw the attention of that statement.

I'm not a lawyer or DOW officer, so take that for what it's worth.

Besides, if we can't document our successful hunts, what are the libs going to have to cry about on social media? [emoji12]

It's probably not talking about having a camera along to record your hunt. Probably to stop you from leaving a bunch of cameras out and then running over when you see something in it.

They changed the wording for archery to allow cameras mounted on bow to record hunts a couple years ago. I would say they are pretty friendly towards go pros on your person.

Pretty easy to email DOW and they will send a response if you are concerned and this is always the safest route.

Now that is diabolical. Next step will be the remote rifle on a drone.

^^^^^^^^^. To me, it sounds like a load of crap that the hunter safety instructor was telling his class.

I don't know, with today's technology, I could see the possibility of that - a rifle controlled and fired remotely online. I'd bet there's a ready market for that too. If it ain't already illegal as hell it should be.

Pretty sure that's already illegal at the Fed level and in the "go to prison for a long ass time if caught" category....Othewise, it would be a piece of cake to build remote controlled (or worse, semi/fully automated) mobile sentry guns or uav's w/ remote tracking/fire-control & first-person video streaming, with no distance/geographical limitations on control location.

I believe this was the same guy (Live-Shot.com) that caused several States to outlaw the so called remote internet hunting.
