Sounds like a good time to be going to school. There's a walkout ever month or so. Wonder if that would fly at most of our jobs?

Well that’s no surprise the walkout planned on 4/20....

There's one tomorrow. From an email from my kids school:

Many of you might have heard or seen on social media the National 17-minute Walk Out scheduled for Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
...and these little twerps will inherit the world.
What could go wrong? Let's make a short list.
My boss won't let me work 2 hours and get paid for 10 hours. I'm walking out.
My mom kicked me out of the basement when I was 28 so I'm walking out.
They put .005 oz too much mayo on my micky d's sammich, I'm walking out.
Someone looked at me crossly, I'm walking out.
Robert hates me and all my friends and my parents and my entire lineage and I've never met him, I'm walking out.
and so on and so forth.
Like I said, on the other thread, we called it a smoke break. 4/20 LOL
I guess those of us with a job are all supposed to lose our shit whenever there's a workplace shooting, 'cuz it could always happen to us.
It's being coordinated by a group called Women's March; https://www.womensmarch.com/enough/
Usingyoung skulls full of mushkids to drive a political agenda should be a crime.
If the press wanted a real story they would wait off site and ask the students about the reason they walked out and what they want to accomplish. Most would have no clue.
They're going to fuck up my birthday.....

Fortunately I don't go to protests much any more. I used to go to one almost every day.
Someone needed to stand between the protesters and the counter-protesters. [Flower]
Besides, if I ever walked out, at a minimum I would get charged leave. I have plenty of leave but try to only take it in 8 hour blocks. 70% of the hassle in work is getting up and going. Once you are there you might as well finish your shift and enjoy the drive home.
Be safe.
Yep....and I'll protest by not spending any money with you. That will always hurt more than broke, mushy brained kids that don't know shit about anything yet....and that's the smarter ones that might figure something out later. The rest of 'em turn into little liberals, and then all is lost on them.
A follow up post to my previous, a buddy at work with a teen still in high school had his son approach him the other day and they talked about it. The kid told his dad he didn't have any interest participating in something like that.
While he and I are proud of the kid, and some parents are REAL with their kids while growing them up....there are soooo many of them grown up with T ball and everyone's a winner. Life is rainbow kitties, all ya gotta do is wish for it and make it happen.
Fvck me.
The kids seem so alien and (mostly) broken.
When I was in high school (mid 90s) isn't wasn't cool to be a conformist. It was cool to think on your own, listen to your own music, etc... Even that young I was interested in guns and learning how to shoot. Loved one of my uncles who taught me the basics. Would have trusted anything he said about guns over any teacher.
I know I would haven't have advocated against my own interests.
Book of Faced is filled with posts showing tweets from kids all around the nation saying they are being forced by their teachers to participate.
I think I know what you meant there, Skip....and that's cool.
There’s already a teacher shortage. Who will “teach” the kids when they are locked up?
I wouldn't hate this “Uninformed Child/Useful Idiot” walk out so much if I thought for one second that any of these kids had even a minuscule amount of info on the pro-gun side of the issue.
Not likely I would support these or any other student walk outs.
Until they finish school and become productive members of society(can support themselves) they need to STFU and get back to class.
It is parents responsibility to speak for their kids. Kids can have their own opinions at home.
If you're unarmed, you are a victimhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5cb698938d.jpg
The press would be directed to young persons with a prepared script to get their information and sound bites from. I don't think the press would even want to talk to someone other than the designated speakers. The press is salivating at the opportunity to push an anti-gun agenda on America from a bunch of kids being victimized by the NRA and rich white bigots that want to keep weapons of war on the street just so crazy people can kill more students.

Counter protest. Or, some family time after school.
^^^^^^
I had a little Browning like that one. It was a nice gun, had to sell it when times got hard.
Write truancy tickets for those that walk out and make them go to court to see the Judge.
Just have officers leave the tickets on the empty desks.
Reward the ones that stay with a free skip a day of school or something fun and educational (like a tour of the US mint in Denver or something along those lines).

Alienating kids by punishing them for using rights we support is a bad idea. The gun community needs to get young people involved or we're all fucked. I'm still young enough that I've got a long ride left and I'd like to keep the shooting community going till I'm dirt-adjacent.
Also it took till page three for people to remember the 4/20 Columbine anniversary?
Two groups walked out down here those who want gun control and those against. According to my daughter it was 2 kids for gun control and a bunch against. The two must of moved down here from Boulder.
I like to appeal to children by using people they look up to, or recognize as smarter than they are to address touchy situations.
"Well, do you think that Mr. Stephen Hawking would have walked out of school today? That's right, of course not. Now I don't want to hear about this again."
I remember going to class on "senior skip day". The teachers handed out super easy pop-quizzes for extra credit. Score.
The left is merely trying to recruit their next identity group to use as tools to obtain and retain political power. They are grooming the current crop of 14-17 year olds so that by 2020 and 2024 they will have won over the vast majority of the votes for people under 25.

I hope there are AP exams , SAT, ACT and other major exams planned on a walkout day.
This Mom's response to her son asking to participate in the walkout is brilliant.

She turned that into a great educational opportunity. Inform yourself, then develop a plan of action. Just don't walk out because some liberal group organized a walkout to push their own agenda.
...and offers free pizza and soda.
Yup, that is a great mom!
Kind of exposes how little the "educators" have told these kids as they manipulate them. If the kids don't even know what the laws are there is no way they understand the importance of 2A. Let alone the historical abuses/atrocities in societies without RKBA.
Well a New Jersey District is handing out 2 day suspensions for walkouts and I think they actually have a good reason.

Quote:
High school students in Sayreville, New Jersey are getting 2 day suspensions for their anti-gun walkout on Wednesday. The school district had warned parents and students ahead of time that they would face suspensions.
The school district claims that it created a dangerous situation for students. They are right. If someone were contemplating a school shooting, how tempting would a school walk out be.
The gunman could fire from their car or just outside their car and could then drive away. Considering the fact that the school could be held liable for that shooting and you can see why they were against it.
