Yesterday morning was exceptional..

On my way to work I stopped at SilTerHar Ford for an oil change in the truck unit.
No biggie, QuickLane service.
The service writer who helped me was a nice enough guy, not really a car guy - probably left Nordstrom or such to write up service tickets.
As I was getting ready to pay he was going through their check sheet with the usual banter, tires @8/32", wipers are good, you need a license bulb etc.
He makes the comment the exhaust system is good and I asked him "What about the muffler bearing? It's been squeaking now and then and it kinda bugs me."
He looks the paper over and says "I don't see anything the tech noted, let me go ask him."
I look over at the other service writer who has overheard the entire exchange and his face is beet red and buried in his hands.
I can't hardly keep a straight face and tell him "Thanks, I'd appreciate that - I have a long trip planned and would hate to have the muffler bearing go out in the middle of nowhere."
He walks out into the shop.
The other writer looks at me and can hardly keep it contained.
My writer comes back in and says "I just talked to the tech, he didn't notice anything."
Just then the entire shop starts roaring with laughter.
He looks over my shoulder to the shop and at the other writer and asks him "I wonder what's so funny?"
The other guy looks at him straight faced and shrugs his shoulders.
I pay my bill and walk out.


Pretty good way to start a Friday morning.[ROFL2]

He'll tell that story for the rest of his career.

You're one hell of a funny guy Bert. I'd avoid ever using that service writer again, but....

Since you distracted him with the question about the muffler bearing, you didn't find out if your blinker fluid needed changing. When it's due, make sure you get the full synthetic.

Maybe next time I get the new guy at the parts store I’ll see if they can hook me up with a flux capacitor for a 1981 DeLorean.

No, I snuck under their desk and stapled their pant legs together.

Depends on the year of the vehicle. They changed to solid-state lug nuts for at least a decade.

Well yeah, but imports have been using magneto style left hand threads for longer than that.

Yeah, this is important and should be flushed at least every two years, 3 max.

Well that is just silly. Every knows the computer controls everything in todays cars. If the muffler is acting up, just need to issue a reset command to stop the funny noises.
