Holy flattening illness, Batman...2 days in and can hardly move. I have to work tomorrow...
Pound the vitamin C bro and whatever else you can, this crude is no joke.
I like the weight loss that goes with!
5 lbs so far...can't eat. Barely keeping tea down. Boiled myself in the hot tub several times...taking Vitamin C, zinc, and diphenhydramine/acetaminophen
Hope you get better.
Aw, that's awful. Do you have to go in to work tomorrow?
Yeah, the flu is nasty this year... I'm now on 1 week and it's getting better, but still lingering.
3 solid days of fever above 100
Did it help getting the flu shot? I did NOT get the flu shot, and curious if they got close to helping this year..
And what I remember T-Fog's boss is is a real hard-ass! [Coffee]
I'm the head cook, bottle washer, and HMFIC, so yeah, opting out of work is not really an option. I never have had a flu shot, but I'm reasonably sure this isn't flu. Flu usually isn't respiratory(except in 1918, when it killed 20 million).
My oldest (5) got the flu a couple weeks ago, I've never seen him down for the count like that, he even complained of having a hard time walking.
Influenza is pretty light this year with only 121 hospitalizations so far in Colorado. Influenza Like Illness's (ILI) are climbing fast however. An ILI is just what is says, looks and feels like the flu but it is not, so there are other virus out there. Maintain good hygiene, drink plenty of fluids, and don't eat sushi from a gas station.
Could it be swine flu from being around hogs? :D
Unsure if it's related but I lost my voice for a couple weeks though I never really felt ill, just a bit rough around the edges for a few days.
Yep, the perfect woman jokes, I heard 'em already. : p
Hope you feel better & right soon.
There's some nastiness out there. Heard a number of folks around me at work with a nagging cough. Wife has also been hit pretty hard and had a fever that just peaked at a little over 102. She's coming back down after a nap and some Acetaminophen.
I got a flu shot that made me feel like crap for a couple of weeks after, but haven't been afflicted with the crud going around right now.
...yet.
(knocks on wood)
Not the flue, but I have had one of the worst sore throats for four days now. Can hardly eat or drink anything and almost impossible to sleep for more than a few hours.
Is bourbon a "med"?
My wife tried to get me sick last week. She works in an office where lots of people don't think they can take time off when sick, so they show up half dead and spread it around.
She went down for the count on Sunday with a fever, cough, and generally feeling poor, and still had the fever yesterday when I talked to her (I had to get on a plane).
I started to get the sore muscles and general drained feeling, but I managed to kick it with Vitamin C, Thieves Oil, Zinc, and Garlic. Yes, garlic. Take a clove of fresh garlic, peel it, chop it into swallowable pieces, and take like a vitamin. It'll kick the crud pretty effectively.
Skaal
Cheers
Bottoms up
Absolutely. It's an antibacterial agent, best applied orally.
The spousal unit ended up at 102.7 last night, went down after some acetaminophen and was back at 102.7 again this morning. She was 99.5 at lunch time so hopefully she's on the flip-side of this bug.
Bailed after I got the essential stuff done at work, came home and took a scalding hot shower, then chugged a half a bottle of Nyquil and took a nap for a couple of hours. Feeling much better...not quite human, but better.
No flu here, but picked up a nasty head cold.
Sunday around noon I started sneezing a lot and noticed I was getting a severe runny nose. By Monday morning it was a full-fledged head cold. I barely slept last night and dragged all day @ work today - being careful to stay well away from everyone else. So congested I can barely hear. Just drank one of those new TheraFlu PowerPods (they only had the Daytime ones @ my local King Soopers) and am going to take a nap now - or just go to bed for the night.
I think I'm on the downside of a mild head cold myself. On the other hand, the last time I had a "mild head cold" it just seemed to fall outta my head and into my lungs. I coughed bad for a solid month. That cough lingered so long my doc sent me in for chest x-rays to make sure it wasn't something worse.
That's also one of the downsides of being married to a nurse. No telling what kind of sickly, skanky, crap she drags home from the hospital. I may have previously mentioned I wanted to set up a decon unit on the front porch...she balked at that. Garage is out, too.
Darn it, Tfog. I think your wife gave me the plague too.
Which is really weird since I?m pretty confident I?ve never met her.
I'm about to have the brown bag flu. :(
It's possible you met her, but it was at least a couple of years ago, so she's unlikely to be the vector for your plague. You have my sympathies, this shit sucks!
I?m still blaming your wife for being ?patient zero?.
The plague is really messing with me today. First I?m burning up and then I?m freezing. I can only imagine this is what menopause feels like.
When the chills hit me I start shaking like a cat shitting a peach pit. I feel like maybe there?s a little epilepsy mixed in with this plague.
The funnest part about it though is that my eyes feel like they?re on fire and there?s some sort of small mythical creature in my head pushing on the back back of them in an attempt to push them out of their sockets.
Ugh.
Happy holidays.
