The 2019 measure doubles the amount of time that a judge would have to consider appeals ? from seven to 14 days for the first hearing after a person?s weapons are confiscated, and from 182 days to 364 days the amount of time the judge would have to decide whether to return a person?s weapons who was deemed an ?extreme risk.?
But the burden of proof lies with the person whose weapons were taken in this year?s measure and the mental health aide working with them.?
Surprisingly, it?s not as Draconian as I thought it?d be.

I heard they are using Deputy Parrish's name for the bill. I hate politicians who stand on the graves of the deceased to promote legislation.

I want to remind folks of what happened to the guns while in storage during the Katrina confiscation. If a person has one or two guns maybe not a big deal. If you are taking guns from my uncle or other older long time collector I'm not sure they are set up for such a seizure. I promise you they wont take as good care as you do. My other thought is, this needs to be linked to cars too. Especially after the kid that got text murdered by his girlfriend. This law is stink from top to bottom. I see no real upside. You almost need registration of guns to make it work. Otherwise you don't know if you got all of them.
