Recalls

Thought I'd start up a new thread, hopefully there will be a bunch of these. With them pissing off people with the Red Flag bill, the Oil & Gas bill, and a handful of other overreaches, it seems like the perfect chance to recall a bunch of these idiots.


The Colorado Secretary of State's Office has approved a recall petition for Greeley dem state Rep. Rochelle Galindo, allowing her critics to begin collecting signatures as they try to remove her from office.

Hopefully the first of many.

There are a lot of upset people up there, but my understanding is that her oddly shaped district to the west and south will be tough to get a more conservative candidate in place. I did donate to their cause.

Hopefully these people are consulting with the guy that did the mag ban recalls a few years back. There are a lot of details that need to be followed to the T or else these things get thrown out.

At least some of the recall efforts have talked with the crew from 2013 as well as others about how to quickly distribute the petitions that go out one page at a time and hold only 40 signatures. If you're so inclined you can donate to the effort HERE

The only way to keep the pressure on is to recall and/or vote them out. Seems like it's a no-win situation since the dems get into office and pass what they want. But the longer we can keep fighting and keep it from being an easy rubber stamp like in CA or the east coast, the better. Keep it in the back of their heads that there are consequences to votes and it might make some of them think twice about future votes.

On the Red Flag Law one would think that having over half of your states sheriffs telling you that they will not enforce the law you are passing, that one would step back and wonder if there may be something wrong with the law that you are pushing.
Seems recalls are about the only option left, to fight back. Hope the effort gets some traction. The O & G law has got to have a bunch of people upset, especially in the N.E. corner of the state.

You would have thought the same thing during the magazine ban debate, or lack of. How many people including CLEO's came to testify and were ignored?

The thing that gives me hope is that in an election cycle, the media works hard to mischaracterize Democrats as being centrists, while doing everything they can to embarrass Republicans. Which means the folks get very little info on how elections change our lives until they do. The Dems get elected and force Leftist policies on us that negatively impacts individuals, and people wake up.

Imagine being the blue collar independent who works in an industry impacted by this but voted for it because "Republicans are racist" or "that GOP guy said something stupid."

Imagine the middle class voter who is looking at declining O&G revenue, paying for full day Kindergarten, and now the latest healthcare effort by Polis? Kind of hard to write those checks yourself.

In other words: When virtue signaling gets real.

also gives me hope, but not much of it. After all, all one has to do is look at several of the carrier politicians and what they have done, but yet, they keep getting voted in time and time again. It's gotten to the point that people that identify as a "D" simply can't bring themselves to vote for anyone with a "R" after their name.
Look at Colo. this last voting cycle. The state voted down every tax increase that was on the ballot, BUT yet they voted over overwhelmingly to put the "D"s in control of the legislation and what do the "D"s have on the agenda, MORE TAXES and lots of programs that need MORE TAXES.

Recalls are really a big effort. The reality is that gunowners tend to actually have jobs so the only way to collect the necessary signatures is to hire polling firms who can get people to walk the neighborhoods while we're at work. You just can't get enough signatures on the weekends alone. It's great that the Gallindo recall was approved to go ahead but that started their clock -- getting the necessary signatures in the allotted time is critical, I wish them luck.

If the targeted audience also has jobs, then walking the streets during the day is a waste of time and those same people with jobs would be better off going after work anyway. It's way easier to just pretend that having a job takes all of your time and farm out the effort I guess.

Irving, I'm speaking from experience in working the REcallMORSE campaign but thanks for your comment. I worked weekends and holidays to get signatures but we flat out would not have made it without the paid help.

I'm not disagreeing with paid help. The reality is that is what gets stuff done.

Just Transition From Coal-based Electrical Energy Economy

Just a side note:
Coal workers in Craig were some of the most visible of the income tax protestors in the 80's saying that they should not have to pay taxes.
Now, the taxpayers are helping them out with their transition to other jobs.

No. There's no jobs to transition them to. This bill just puts words to what Dems are doing to workers.

Much like Obama's Solyndra scandal. The Green Energy economy is nothing more than a white paper. So it can't absorb these losses (jobs/revenue).

The only jobs will be service sector jobs, which I think is part of the hidden agenda. But the idea these people are going to give up well paying field jobs, move Denver, and buy a $400K house, to work in a call center is laughable.

And the call center needs electricity/heat. So what will CO employers do with all this increased cost? Hire more? [LOL]

Call center jobs are about to be replaced by AI answering services.

Industrialized economies require energy. There is no replacement standing by so the Dims can achieve their goals. Assuming the goal isn't to simply de-develop the US and destroy the service sector they spent 10 years transitioning the country into.

We laugh but it wouldn't surprise me at all to find future collectivists using existing tech despite how bad they currently say it is. When the collective mandates it, it will be good.

I'm starting to wonder if recalls aren't a bad strategy. They are really going all out and pissing everyone off.

They are trying to kill the senior property tax exemption. They are claiming a new credit will be created but it has all sorts of conditions and a phase out.

Oh, and this is technically a tax increase which should require a vote under TABOR. If you look at the language of the bill they are just changing the maximum credit to $0 which effectively nullifies it, probably so they can say they didn't impose a new tax, just changed the credit max.

There's a lot of ideological reasons why they would do this that won't be explained but it's a bad look from the party that cares.

I think they’ll find a less controversial replacement. She resigned because she was threatened by recall. People are pissed.

The prize is the next legislative session, not putting their thumbs in the eye of constituents now.

Pretty damned obvious that once Galindo did as much damage as she could and the uproar started to get serious, then the Dem party forced her to resign so she didn't get recalled. Now they're free to put someone else in her place that's even MORE leftist and radical, with no worries.

What I don't understand is how Polesmoker can just decree that he's eliminating the CO Electoral vote, and "we're going with National Popular Vote" now. How can he DO that? How is it even LEGAL?

I doubt these National Public Vote laws will survive in the courts, but it'll be a while until that happens and if they are able to get D's elected in the mean time they figure they can rig the system to protect their party.

What's going to be doubleplus funny is if Trump wins the popular vote in 2020 and loses the vote here in CO but CO is beholden to give our EVs to Trump ... that'll get this nonsense reversed overnight.
