So, it appears the company had a policy against its employees having firearms on company property? And you're upset because the guy was fired for violating company policy?
eff the company...
It's not shell. Its suncor.
Also this is standard in almost any industry as a means of self preservation. Tis the overly litigious society we live in
You'll forget about this fake outage and be filling up at a shell by the end of the month.
This. Suncor is the one who operates all the shell stations in many states. Suncor has a license to sell Shell and Exxon gas.
Not me... I preferred Shell gas, but wife has been telling me to fill up at Costco or King soopers, since we get discounts at both. This will be the excuse I need. At this point, I think there is very little difference in gas brands, so my very old brand loyalty was pretty stupid.
I'd get fired if I got caught carrying at work, too.
I was once fired for carrying at work, without actually having carried at work.
Shell... for those who like overpaying for gas.
A significant majority of the industrial world has the same policy. This includes EVERY SINGLE O/G industry partner...
If you were to try and avoid every company that has a "no gunz" policy, you would lead a very sad and bland life...
I understand where the annoyance at these rules comes from, but the reality is that trying to "vote" with your dollars does nothing but inconvenience you.
I will also throw in here... (Focused on Shell since this thread focuses on how evil shell is...)
Kroger buys their gas from lots of companies, Shell included...
Costco is in the same boat. They specifically call out Shell as one source...
From the Costco List:
Shell
Chevron/Texaco/Anadarko (sale just announced today)
Exxon/Mobile
Marathon
BP/Amoco/Arco
Want to take a guess as to what one of the common safety rules for EVERY SINGLE company mentioned above is?
That's right.
No guns on premise (not even in personal vehicles - specific to being a contractor/employee/service worker of any kind), no CCW, no nothing... No guns. 100% guaranteed firing offense if you are caught...
No guns on premise (not even in personal vehicles - specific to being a contractor/employee/service worker of any kind), no CCW, no nothing... No guns. 100% guaranteed firing offense if you are caught...
I have succumbed reluctantly. Even if in a locked (safe) inside your vehicle, you're fired if they search it. Ain't right, but it's real.
I'd guess this very site is hosted on Amazon servers. Amazon has the same policy.... Just sayin'
Don?t know what I did & ended up quoting myself....... [sorry]
I fill up at King Soopers. I took a fraud report once at a local gas station where the state inspectors came by. Someone had put a machine into the gas pump, collecting data from anyone who used the pump with a credit card. I asked them what the safest gas station to get gas was and both said, King Soopers.
While I'm annoyed by companies that don't allow lawful CCW by their employees, it's still their right as a company and as employees we are required to follow the rules of our employers.
People also have the right to break the rules all they want. Just no crying if you have to get another job in a hurry.
Well.... he's alive, safe, and in the clear.
And he was fired from a gas station job.... I'm thinking he can land another gas station gig without too much trouble.
Buy Shell - it pays my dad's pension
Although Brand Gas stations are owned by individual franchisee, not too many likes corporate shell for other reasons as well.
I believe they (Koninklijke Nederlandse) still bs around at Nigeria with Nigerian govt?
Good enough reason for me.

No more Shell gas for me.
I am required to carry at work...[Coffee]
Again, shell had nothing to do with this, so I don't mind Shell gas... Suncor has a license to sell Shell gas, and Suncor operates all the Shell stations in Colorado. It was suncor's decision to fire the employee.
Yes, almost all places probably have a similar policy, but they made this decision about this particular case, and so I'll avoid them (and I let them know, not that they give a damn).
Costco sells Top Tier gas and you can usually get premium at mid-grade prices.
Not even close to all... You might want to do a little more digging on your statements.
Published numbers are sub 100 Phillips 66's and Shell stations combined, statewide. There are ~240 Shell stations alone statewide...
They have contracts to provide fuel to many other Phillips and Shell stations statewide, but they don't own or operate them...
I don't actually care. I just find your pick and choose stance on financial support of anti-gun companies a little fickle...
Enjoy the feeling of moral superiority!
When I get out of this shithole state, I'll be looking to get employed by folks that either encourage, or at least don't mind if I'm carrying.
Just so everyone knows. The only refineries around are both owned by Suncor, a Canadian oil company. All gas in Colorado, at least front range comes from that refinery. The only difference in the different brands is the additive blends which are proprietary to the end oil company. You cannot avoid supporting Suncor and still drive a vehicle with an internal combustion vehicle, not gonna happen. They also own franchise stations all over the country. While the policy sucks, it is common with all large companies especially oil companies because they are high security operations, at least at the refineries you have. To go through very stringent security. They also don’t want to be sued by some scumbag armed robber because he was shot on their property and they have deep pockets.
They actually only supply 35% of the gas/diesel in CO.
One of my friends FIL's used to run refineries in PA, and when he saw the one in Commerce City made a comment to the effect of "I didn't know they made them that small"...
Having been to the big ones on the coasts, it is kind of impressive that they are at the production rates they are...
