Fraudulent charges

Three days ago Woke up to 2 fraud charges coming from Arizona on samsclub.com. Last night I checked my spam folder and I have shipping comfirmation of the items coming to my house. So I’m like great I’ll just return them and let the bank know. Now this morning there?s a email confirmation that the items are being requested to ship to an AZ address for additional $13.75 on a card ending in 9035 (I assume it?s the a$$hole?s card). I mean they can?t be dumb enough to use their own address can he? Coincidentally I did go to SAMs club last week to replace my lost card. Don?t know if that can be in any relation.

Oh, you mean fraudulent charges. At first read, I thought Sam’s Club was charging you with fraud (while the items were still enroute no less!). It’ll be easy for you to dispute the charges but I’m sure Sam’s Club would appreciate you telling them about the fraud before they get delivered.

Yup. Get their attention as soon as possible

Call local LEO in the delivery area. They might be happy to tag along after the delivery man and arrest the fraudster, if they can.

being AZ they might. However LE's don't bother with CC fraud unless the company in question want's to peruse it. CC co's and business usually accept $5K of theft / loss before they even bother going after said thief, if not more.

The fun part about a live arrest in a CC fraud case, is that they have probable cause to search the premises. It's likely the dirtbag scammer didn't happen to get caught the very first time they tried a CC scam, and their premises are probably loaded with credit cards in all different names, stolen mail, garages or rooms full of stolen goods and often lots of drugs and cash, so it can lead to a large, worthwhile bust without a bunch of legwork, *if* they can apprehend the perp in the act of receiving.

Almost zero probability the CC company will want to work with LE as the "victim" to pursue this. That's part of the reason credit cards come with exorbitantly high interest rates...to pay for this sort of loss.

15 years in LE and I can't recall a single time a credit card company wanted to prosecute for this sort of thing. It probably happens somewhere...but it ain't likely. Then again, maybe things have changed.

They could easily be sending it to someone else's address. The perp will just steal it off the porch when it's delivered.

This.. they have it delivered to a snowbird neighbor thats never home and then go pick it up when convenient.

And the cops wont care. Best thing to do is call your bank so they can reverse the charges and send you a new card.

Did they deliver the coffee machine to you? Curious about the model. Hope he at least had good taste.
