53s flying around this morning

I just saw a couple of 53s flying around, I live in the middle of Colo Spgs. They had the ramps down, brrrrrrr.

Is the Navy in town?

A Blackhawk in disguise?

Probably high altitude training.

The Sea Stallion was retired in 2012.

They were USAF I think, definitely 53s, I spent enough time in rotary wings to call them rotary wings. I'm betting PJs are here for some training.

They move alot faster than you would think, and the pilots never have to yell 'torque' at each other.

Has anyone told the Marines? We flew F-4s for awhile after they had been retired.

They are Marine E models. They have been up here all week getting some high altitude training before their next deployment.

Good dudes. Their CO seems pretty solid.

The ones I saw today looked pale gray to my eye. I saw them again in the afternoon in the Springs. I didn't catch any markings.

As already noted by Hoser it was a USMC Squadron, HMH-461 to be specific doing cold weather high altitude training. These are off their Public facing Faceboook page.

Edited previous post with imgur hosted photos. I am now squarely in the I hate photobucket camp as my images haven't been accessible since their data center outage.

There was a blackhawk on a flatbed that I've seen recently in the trucking world. I wish I took a picture. It looked amazing. Tons of tanks and hummers though. I want to sign up with where ever they are going.

I was wondering. Been some loud night flying over the house up here in the past week or so.

So the moral of the story is, when you lose your drone, you send in the Marines!
