You're either concerned about your safety enough to break the law, or you aren't.
What law would be broken?
This is carry NOT on school property.
I?m too lazy to research it but is it just ?school property? that is strictly forbidden or does it mention anything about other school related functions?
Personally, concealed should be concealed so even if you are carrying somewhere you aren?t supposed to it?s highly likely nobody will ever know. Should things go south in a bad way and you were forced to use your firearm then that tells me that getting your pee-pee slapped for carrying where you weren?t supposed to should be a problem you are lucky to have to deal with. The alternative being obeying the rules and finding yourself dead.
No "function" terms that I can see. Probably not legally possible anyway. Concealed carry banned for everybody at the park just because a field trip is having lunch there? Not practical.Quote:

If it's the zoo, then no they don't have any of that stuff.
I believe on school grounds, it must be secured in the vehicle. The firearm cannot leave your vehicle.

From what I'm reading, if it's not on school grounds, the statute doesn't apply. Other prohibitions might, depending on the venue.
Caveat: I am not a lawyer, and it couldn't hurt to ask one.
How could they enforce it off school grounds?
And when was ccw at a university banned? I carried on college grounds daily for two years a CU Denver.
For those that mention that it sounds strange for carry to be against the law at a school function, off of school property, it is that way in some other states. It would be illegal, for example, to conceal carry a firearm at the San Antonio Zoo while a field trip was being held there.

Schools get to take advantage of what is referred to as a Nexus, but I'm not a lawyer and don't know to what level of the law things can be enforced, so just forget I said anything.
