They're not gone forever. This was just the first trial run.
Commando in Chef Obama's associate Bin Biden said we gotta still wear it inside.
I am not an anti-vaxxer, but I still haven't got vaxxed yet.

The mask mandate is as much over as its being warped into mandatory vaccines and vaccine passports.
Rather go to a bra burning party, personally.
I haven?t worn a mask for a month and before that is was very rare. King soopers, target, Home Depot etc etc I would never wear a mask
One day I just decided I?m not going to participate in wearing a placebo on my face anymore.... so I stopped. I would straight up refuse and walk out if they pressed me...
The mask mandates are disappearing because more and more people were realizing that there was no correlation between mask usage and case rates. The jig was up.They had to do it slowly though, so they didn?t look like complete fools. People have staked their entire virtue on them... people wearing them outdoors, in their cars, walking down a trail in a mountains by them sell . It was a religious experience for them. People have lost their damn minds and nobody could tell them that
I don?t think the mask mandates are coming back... with Dr Fauci?s political capital depleted after lying to Congress about the Wuhan funding he?s most likely going to quit his position in the next 12 months and then be a contributor on CNN or MSNBC.
what, burn all those brand new masks I just got?
Yep, I needed to re-stock on my wood working masks so I picked up a bunch to keep my sinus happy.
I have historically been very bad about not wearing a mask when I know I should be, like routing and sanding. Sometimes I feel the foolishness of my choices more immediately than others, particularly with Walnut. I bought an RZ and some filter inserts a couple years back, and I've been very happy with the system. Easy on, easy off, comfortable to wear for an extended period. Definitely not a respirator for spraying, but for wood chips and dust, I think they are hard to beat.
Let me preface this by saying. We didn't care if you wore, or didn't wear a mask.
Some needed to due to health reasons, others because of a job, or their personal choice.
WHICH "we" seem to forget is, or was something we use to have.
Like one who owns guns. I don't care if you own one or not. BUT the opposite thought process is
IF I CHOOSE TO DO SOMETHING. EVERYONE MUST FOLLOW MY WAY OF THINKING!
Been almost zero compliance down here. Sure some are Branch Covidians, wearing them everywhere, including (why?) their cars. Smaller business were closed (thanks state gov) some never to reopen. While big box reaped the benefits of this cluster fuk.
Which the spouse and i still believe was an effort to shutter independent business, forcing the populace to rely on the internet and big box, for everything.
It was an over reach, depending what state on lived. Where one was forced to "shelter in place" castigated by the propaganda if one were to venture outside.
BECAUSE, YOU DIDN'T CARE IF YOU WERE KILLING GRANDMA!!! And other shit to put you in the corner. Pushed by social media, kept alive by it's henchmen, and on a daily basis publicly shamed. If you swam against the current.
REMEMBER the surfer in CA, arrested for "violating the stay at home order" With no one else out there. Except the police, sent to arrest him. There's others who become political prisoners. Not by an actual law. Oh No, but by "mandate"
What's interesting, regarding MANDATORY MASK at stores. That policy was not put in place till say 45-60 days after this "pandemic" went full tilt. Or should i say. In an effort to demonize trump. DEATH NUMBERS!!!! were plastered all over the media & web.
Striking fear in to the really gullible, allowing state government to exercise an abuse of power not seen since. Well pick a regime, who quashed their citizens freedom
Yet today we still see approx 9k deaths on a monthly basis, with zero outrage from the media. Do the numbers.
The status quo got what they wanted. A malleable figurehead as president, control of congress. With a push to force those who take issue with group think, in to submission.
I wanted to not wear a shirt nor a man bra at the local stores too, but they refused me, unless I wear a man bra and a shirt.
this is America! I can show off my man tits at a private property.
I am not transmitting pneumonia by not wearing it.
if private business ask a guy to wear a diapers, you got 2 options.
not go in there
or
wear a diaper and enter their private property.
or get criminal trespass charges.
Correct. Their business, their rules.
BUT. to be forced to follow certain "mandates" based on hysterics. Along with no actual law to enforce it, other than a we said to do it, so you must. Is clearly, unauthorized government over reach Throw in the states ability, under guidance by of all things the health dept & cdc. To yank a business license, for not following, again, a mandate. is bullshit.
If a business wants to make me wear a mask after this latest "executive order" that essentially makes it optional then I might just be inclined to verbally assault an employee about their willingness to follow a previous executive order but now totally disregarding another order.
I should get a gold star for how generally nice I've been to everyone for the past year. I think I'm done now and I'll just start calling things like I see them.
Yes. of course.
people can simply avoid those businesses instead of yelling at high school kids who are working at a business to save money for tuitions during their senior year.
I am hoping that Tuberculosis, Pneumonia , and covid sar2 will end so that I do not have to forget not wearing it mask. I think I stacked about 1/2 miles of walking back to the car or home to get the mask which I forgot to bring.
:)
I held a mask in my hand today at a couple of stores. Get people used to the idea.
That my friends is what we call, a Risk Taker.
Can't imaging your pulse rate, wondering which side of the debate, was going to accost you, first.
My best line when "CONFRONTED" by one of the YOU'RE NOT WEARING A MASK, cult followers, is as usual. Yeah i don't wear condoms, either. Shuts them down real fast. Then again it's usually some do gooder, with their mask holding up their chin.
For a lot of people, NOT wearing a mask is going to be hard. They've done it religiously for a year. Walking into a public place sans mask is going to make many people straight up feel naked. They will feel super uncomfortable. But many of those same people don't want anyone to believe they're anti-vax either. Those people are in a pickle. Don't wear a mask and feel exposed or do wear one and possibly be identified as anti-vax. (Jokes on them, many anti-vax folks never wore masks and they aren't going to start now no matter what Uncle Joe says).
Wonder how many new super OCD germaphobes we've created. A bunch I'm sure.
I can't imagine that someone wearing a mask will be seen as an anti-vaxxer. I just don't think those two circles overlap on the vin diagram.
When I see someone not wearing a mask, I always look at them like when I see someone run a stop sign. I've got such engraved social norms that I see someone not following and my knee jerk reaction is distaste. Every time, I have to remind myself that I want to see even more people not wearing a mask. We followed social norms to keep society together, as that's what people are hard wired to do, but it was for poor reasons and it needs to stop. It's a weird place to be when you manners go against what you feel is right.
I just had a local pickup. I was wearing a mask even I don't even know a mask cotton can do any help unless I had to sneeze with covid 19 load being high.
whenever I have a local pickup, they ask me if they want them to wear a mask. I say "Nope."
I wear it just to not to offend anyone.
who knows. next viral pandemic, we might really need to wear a level3 biohazard suit or encapsulated suit.
I did some little division and subtraction, but even if there is 99% of human population wipeout, there will be 79mil humans. More than enough to sustain some kind of economy. I just hope that I am that 1%.
Going back to the Topic. I probably would still keep new masks I have. Who knows Someone who might need it after chemo/-mab therapy. :(
I have been mulling over the idea that the pandemic mandates were an intentional tactic to make the general populace unhappy and dissatisfied with life in the run up to the election. Trump had done what was thought impossible with restoring the economy after Obama/Biden pretty much destroyed it and was heading for a shoo-in victory.
The pandemic itself was bad enough due to lives lost but the economic impact from the closures and the general unhappiness about lockdowns and mandatory masks seemed targeted toward stirring up the generally uninformed population. In addition, they gave the MSM and others an opportunity to paint Trump supporters as uncaring ("you want to kill Grandma") and ignorant ("believe the science" -- always laughable coming from people who couldn't pass high school physics). The same morons freaking out over barbecues and picnics saw no problem with clustering and yelling (way to spew more saliva in the air) at "peaceful protests".
There were lots of instances of ignorant people protesting the masks and lockdowns -- the facts are that if we'd been more diligent about tackling the spread, we could probably have beat it down much sooner but it would have been at great cost in liberties as well as finances. Of course, Trump and Pence are being given no credit for coordinating a federal response that accelerated not just development but testing of the various vaccines in ways that were allegedly impossible. Somehow, Joe the Idiot gets credit despite all the vaccines being developed before Election Day.
As far as mask burning goes, count me out. I'll be happy to retire my masks but I'm keeping them for my international travels just in case. The experience in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. shows that broad mask wear does help slow the spread of respiratory viruses.
The masks I have been wearing were shown to be the effective. Neck sleeves or whatever they are called had only the benefit of keeping my neck warm. We have to wear them at work still, but at least those serve a purpose for dust control.
My typical response to those telling me to wear one out side was either ignoring them or just saying fvck off. If they persisted I would raise my arm and ask what the fvck are you going to do about it. That always work as my shirt would raise high enough to reveal the not so CCW.
I agree with other posts. These lock downs served the will of the economic overlords by killing smaller competitors and partially normalizing teleworking so they could reduce real estate overhead.
Where are you being people telling you to put a mask on, especially outside? I traveled all over the country the past year and with the exception on an employee informing me of the rules of the place (in Hawaii), I only ever had one person say anything to me. It was a lady in the very beginning, and she actually said something out loud to the employee she was talking to in some bitchy, passive aggressive move. This was before masks were mandatory. I very bluntly informed her that if she was going to wear a mask, it had to cover her nose as well as her mouth, otherwise she was just pretending. She shut the fuck up after that. Besides that, I haven't had any mask conversation with anyone, nor even witnessed one. Keep it classy with brandishing over a mask by the way. Jesus.
I doubt I would react very kindly to someone telling me to wear a mask outdoors. I might not be mean, but I wouldn't be kind.
I haven't been wearing a mask in quite a long while, although I probably will again come wintertime to help protect my elderly parents. Not because anyone or anything ever told me to, simply because as pointed out, proper, quality respirators do actually work to some degree and that was my position before the US Gov got involved as well. The new strains are also affecting younger people harder than the originals did, so I prefer to not have to deal with it if I don't have to.
I've never thought it should be mandated at all, mandates would backfire anyway, and all the passive aggressiveness and enforcement was unwarranted/improper, but likewise, all the anti mask mouth foaming has been equally face-palmy. It's been one of the dumbest hills for people (both directions) to die on I can think of in the last few years.
I will only add that it's a seasonal virus... which it is still incredibly strange that isn't openly acknowledged by -anything-. Be more careful when it's cold and wet. Almost nothing to worry about when it is warm and dry. Totally ignored because..... ?
Good points throughout the thread.
The company I work for hasn't reduced their regs.
Never really bothered me. the cotton masks are far more comfortable that n95 masks and do about the same job. I've spent weeks in n95s 8-12 hours a day
Plus making face identification software at the stores work harder entertains me
Saw an advertising sign flipper wearing a mask on a street corner at least 30' from anything breathing, Really?
All I know is, I ended up vastly over-stocking on N95/KN95 masks up to this point. But who knew how many my family (including parents on both sides) would need or how many we would go through? I went from feeling like I didn't have nearly enough when things looked like they were getting sporty to having what seems a ridiculous supply now. Ended up not burning through them nearly as fast or as often as I thought. But I'm just going to hold onto them now that I have them. If things flare up again and the mandates go back into effect later, I'll have them. Or . . . will come in handy with some DIY projects and occasional attic work.
Several places I've gone had dropped the mask mandate (Costco, Walmart, Sam's) but tons of people were still wearing them. Safeway and Qdoba near me still required them for entry.
I went to Costco today, sans mask. As God intended. Nobody asked for proof of vaccination.
What I did see was everyone in a family wearing masks including the little kids. Little girl riding in the cart was saying, "I have counted 10 people not wearing masks!" Dad was telling her, "It's OK."
Welcome to the most compliant generation this country will ever know. As. By. Design.
When I walked into Costco yesterday, I had a mask in my hand just in case. Almost everyone coming out and going in wore one, so I assumed they were keeping the policy. But, I held it up to the guy at the door and said "is this optional or no?" he said optional if you were fully vaccinated. Which I am . . . but, how would they even know? I said ok, I'm good and walked in. I'd say 90% of everyone in there was still masked. Same with Wally World today.
Harbor Freight also was mask required today. Figured they would have dropped it like a bad habit, but no.
I don't follow Covid news, and it was by accident that I even clicked on an article saying that Colorado was lifting the restrictions this weekend. I wonder how many people don't know. A lot of it is habit. This generation isn't any more or less compliant than any other generation.
That may be true. WW2 we had significant rationing and press censoring. Not that it wasn't necessary. Most people didn't bitch about whether or not the troops were actually needing/getting (x) grocery item though; and simply complied. Yet among many groups of people there was significant rule bending and even outright forgery of ration books. It is not apples to apples, but it shows even when a cause is quite justified, some will drive in the lines and others will do anything they can to drive on the shoulder - even in cases where society is in agreement of the morality of it. (It is not in agreement on covid. Back then, but forging and buying/selling rations stamps was morally wrong, yet many, many people did it anyway, cause gotta make pie for church potluck)
I'm not trying to pick on Gman, but let's not be silly. Here are some pictures of the same compliant population, and these aren't toddlers.

I stopped wearing a mask in Lowes a couple months ago and they haven't had any issues. Of course they were one of the last stores to even require them so I figured they wouldn't mind.
I'm looking forward to Costco without a mask. They've been very strict about it.
I went into Noodles yesterday to grab my pickup without a mask, people gave me some sideways glares, but stayed quiet.
I've never made my kids wear masks in stores this entire time. My 11 year old does anyway because she's used to it from school and doesnt want any confrontation. I tell her she can take it off, but she keeps it on usually. Her choice. My 7 year old won't wear them anywhere it's not absolutely required which is pretty much only school. She's never worn one in a store. The 3 year old obviously doesn't.
JeffCo said they will still require them in school, which is total BS. But I suspect the teachers have pressured them for that policy. They better not require them in fall.
Over the weekend ended up in Flatirons Church in Lafayette, the Evergreen Walmart, Home Depot and throughout Colorado Mills Mall. I didn't wear a mask and it felt brazen and revolutionary! Except for at church where a minority was wearing masks, everywhere else it was closer to 98% masks. The signs are still up at the doors to stores, but no enforcement. I saw several people look at me without a mask for a couple seconds and you can see their wheels spinning, and then they would take their masks off or pull it down to their chin.
I'm vaccinated so I'm not doing it to flip off "the man". But wow was that weird to be in a crowded mall and be the only person without a mask.
