The number of people that are on a quasi fixed budget that are being affected by this is growing.

I personally know several elderly that are struggling to buy groceries as prices rise.

If you are able and in a church group, social group, or otherwise, please think to check in with the elderly and make sure they are getting by.

Chicken is $13 a pound, store was completely sold out of eggs, canned beans over $3, half the produce and a lot of the meat looks like it shoulda been tossed in the trash, the price of paper towels and TP has more than doubled... wages are the same though.

We expect things to get a lot worse.

The time of abundance is over. Worst part is it shouldn't be...

And here i'm sitting on my 5 acres in OK for just this reason feeling behind the curve because I havn't gotten setup yet and producing anything to help yet.

Eggs are $4. a dozen, down here. Luckily we get them fresh, from one of my coworkers. for $2. a doz.

$13 for chicken has to be for some fancy ass organic, gluten free, special Hollywood chicken.

King Doops has boneless skinless thighs for $3.00/lb.

Maybe some of the Army people are "lucky" enough to be homeless and in Denver. 2 million to go to paying homeless people a "Income" was approved.

I had soldiers and airmen under me on foodstamps 25 years ago when I was stationed in DC. Despite Biden's propaganda, the spike in prices on everything (not just food) is less a result of Russia's war on Ukraine or the support we're providing Ukraine than the incredibly stupid policies coming out of DC for handling the pandemic, central economic planning by demonstrated incompetents (Janet Yellen et al), and lingering effects from the "peaceful protests" of the previous election year. I still say it would cost us more economically AND in blood if Putin is allowed to think he can run around unopposed. Notice he has only taken these actions when we had supreme leaders Obama and now Biden occupying the Oval Office.

$215 for basic groceries yesterday for two of us. Only meat we bought was a pound of bacon. That's maybe 10 days worth of groceries.

This happens every single time democrats control the government. Every. Single. Time.

Tell me again how democrats and republicans are the same.

Unrepentant deficit spending

They spent the money on new VIP planes and other crap we really don't need. $5 billion would feed a lot of military families. If I was president, I would never even use these aircraft. The 747 market is glutted right now. Same story with used military brass, they sell it for scrap. They refuse to let us reload it. $7 trillion for Iraq and Afghanistan wars, more insanity. The United States is a military-industrial complex, but it touts itself as a republic.

I remember back in the day it was common for military bases that did not have on base housing to support jr enlisted ranks...esp in high cost living areas...which is pretty much almost everywhere today.
To make ends meet; often the family would qualify for food stamps while their rank caught up with their family size.

They used to have situations where families could eat in appropriated funds dining facilities. When I was 7 I ate in the Airmans' dining facility for lunch at school. Seemed weird at the time. I was the only kid there. I have eaten at various dining halls at military bases here in Colorado. Compared to restaurants on the local economy, it was dirt cheap. Sometimes I eat at Fort Carson Hospital. If you are an E1 with 6 kids, I can see the dilemma. I still keep 60 lbs of rice for emergencies. I think the press just makes news of non-issues.

Seems like families posted near a commissary could receive some sort of "credit" or "voucher" good for $XXX per month and avoid the EBT industrial complex.

My sister was getting help from WIC over a decade ago as an Army spouse with kids.

Congress should get military pay including their housing, IMHO.

Speaking of inflation impacting those on a fixed income, the massive increase in housing prices has impacted those that even own their homes outright. Increased property values have resulted in significant increases in taxes.
