"During that search, the student got hold of a weapon..." Huh?
Additional clarity in this article...

Quote:
Chief Thomas said the suspect, a male student at East High School, was under a safety plan where he had to be patted down and searched in a front office before school each day. He said this had happened every day for a while without a problem, but on Wednesday, this student pulled a firearm and shot and injured the two deans.
Tay is going to be upset...
Quote:
"In terms of what we can expect at East from here until the end of the school year, in collaboration with Chief Thomas and with support from our mayor and also communicated this to the Board of Education that we will have two armed officers here at East until the end of the school year," he said.
dang it, didn't get that law passed preventing anyone under 21 from purchasing a weapon passed quite quick enough. I'm sure that would've prevented this tragedy[facepalm]
Wait a minute. So the solution to your gun problem is to bring in people with guns? How can any anti-gun person rationalize this?
Standard intellectually lacking comments from the usual suspects...

In their eyes, the sane, moral and responsible teens who have access to weapons everyday are no different, and probably worse, the hood rat who committed the crime today.
It's as if the gun in question kidnapped the perp and forced him to fire at the faculty members.
I guess the hood rat was a recent transfer from Commerce City looking to get a "fresh start". Instead of getting moved to a new school, he should been worried about being "fresh" for Bubba and his friends in the local lock-up.
Looked online and didn't see the Denver "news" stations live streaming from the school. Wonder why that is. (I could speculate, but we all know.)
He was a dirtbag that had to be searched everyday because of previous "issues". Likely a last attempt to keep him out of jail.
They tried to search him today and he started blasting.
Channel 9 keeps interviewing the little shits that were walking out of class at the protests organized my Moms Demand Action. They all want "something" to be done but no one will come out and tell the truth that they want to end private ownership of firearms.
Yes, Tay will be under a tiny bit of scrutiny for removing SROs from schools but his constituency will continue to support him. He will likely call for more stringent "gun control laws".
From 9news-
Part of the argument to remove the SROs was that they unfairly target students of color, and make them wary of law enforcement early in their lives.
After the shooting Wednesday, Denver Mayor Michael Hancock released a statement that called the decision to remove SROs a "mistake" and said, "we must move swiftly to correct it."
Today is a good day to ask the state legislators how this would have been prevented by all the currently proposed legislation.
"Oh, but you see, THESE guns will be in the hands of government representatives, not people". (I know; right?)
Just like every other case where a "disadvantaged youth" [translation: dirtbag criminal minor] perpetrated a crime, he'll eventually get caught and tried as an adult for at least 2 counts of attempted (currently, we'll see how the victims recover) murder. Momma, who's been absent in actual parenting this kids whole life will come on TV to tell us that her child is an alter boy who spends most of his free time divided between volunteering at the local homeless and animal shelters. She'll tell how (refuting video evidence otherwise) her son didn't do it - but even if he did, he was only protecting himself from the tyrannical administrators and security at the high school that he was attending to graduate then move on to college so he could eventually become a doctor at a children's hospital. She'll add that we need to quit spending so much time looking to hold her child accountable for this act and push harder to enact total gun elimination since guns are the real problem.
His dad is gonna be so mad….
The red Volvo XC90 he was known to drive was found near County Road 68, near Bailey in Park County. That is 7600 feet in elevation. Gonna be cold out there tonight.

I'm guessing we will see at least one resignation from the DPS Board before the weekend. And thanks to Mayor Hancock for stating the obvious about SRO's. That pimp has nothing to lose now that his days are numbered. It's disgusting what that fool did to this town. He's a cheap Punk, good riddance.
Interesting that Tay is in the hospital since yesterday and I guess has been unable to pontificate.
He will be found under a tree with a cavitation of his skull after suck starting his pistol.
Good riddance to bad rubbish, will save the taxpayers money not having to keep him incarcerated.
DILLIGAF
If a student is deemed such a threat to the safety of others that he needs to be searched for weapons every morning (after voluntarily reporting to the school office), why not just expel him at that point?
He was expelled from Cherry Creek Schools- Overland. Denver took him in and gave him a last chance.
My brother in law has been in education as an administrator and board member for 30 years, after he got out of the Marines. He has a doctorate in education and is far from a liberal.
He says this happens when trying to keep a kid out of the criminal system. Many times it works, if the kid smart enough to realize it may be his last chance at a "normal" life.
Unfortunately, this idiot didn't take advantage of the opportunity to change his ways.
Many if not most educators believe in what they are doing- trying to help kids.
The rules are written to give the kids as many chances as they can, hoping it works. Often it does.
Sometimes it doesn't, as is proven with this fool.
Prophetic...

UPDATE: A body was found during a search for the East High School shooting suspect, according to Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw.
Authorities discovered the suspect vehicle on County Road 68, and the body was found two-tenths of a mile away, McGraw said Wednesday night. The identity of the person has not been confirmed.
Quote:
Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw said Wednesday night that around 8:15 p.m., a person's body was found in the woods about two-tenths of a mile from the car. McGraw said the person's body has not been identified.
A law enforcement source stated the body was that of Lyle, and that he died of an apparent suicide.
Park County had issued an emergency alert for the town of Bailey and the surrounding area due to the investigation. Residents were asked to shelter in place and call 911 if they see anything unusual.
McGraw said that shelter-in-place alert has been lifted.
When I went to HS in California they had a special school for the fucked up kids to go to. Keep the fucked up kids away from the good kids that actually want an education.
I'll bet he was on medication aimed at taming his "behavioral issues".
ended better than I expected. I was sure he would get shot by an officer and of course that would lead to everyone blaming the cops for something...
Funny how having SRO's back in the school seems to be what many are calling for after this incident. What's different about this time, compared to all the other school shootings? Other than no students were shot?
Watcha got to say Tay?
You guys oughta team up and run for governor.
That's funny. More likely his court appointed case manager.
You're correct. We're seeing the results of roughly 60 years, three generations of "The War on Poverty." The only thing the proponents know to do is double down. The moral, responsible teens don't need their services and skew the data.
He was definitely a candidate for remote learning. I learn more on the internet, than I ever did in high school.
I’d like to know what sentencing options the judge had in ‘21. Juvie court I assume so records probably not available. As pointed out previously I heartily agree he shouldn’t have been in a school at all.

DPS board votes unanimously to put armed police back in Denver high schools for rest of year
Imagine that...
Wonder how much the lawsuits will cost DPS?
I would be willing to bet the cost of full time SRO in each school is less.
Denver school board members put their own security(there is armed security in DPS building) and wages(most school boards are not paid, Denver is) above the safety and security of DPS students when they state there is not enough money in the budget for SRO's.
Budget is 1.28 billion for school year 22-23.
So Tay, why is your security more important than the students security?
If you're unarmed, you are a victim.
And just like that- yet more firearm control legislation to be introduced next week.
Ghost gun ban- 30 days to “register”.
Per Ch7 news.
So, shitbird was searched every day before class, because libtards.
Does anyone remember that from high school?
https://www.aol.com/news/denver-stud...124516479.html
Law enforcement sources told CBS Colorado that the 17-year-old had been arrested back in 2021 for possession of a ghost gun and a high capacity magazine.
His arrest came when he was a student at Overland High School and some fellow students reported photos on social media showing Lyle with a gun, the sources said.
A search of the teenager’s home then uncovered the ghost gun and magazine. He was later expelled from the school and began attending East High School.
As part of a school safety plan based on his prior behaviour, Lyle was required to be patted down for weapons each day on arrival at East High, Denver Police Chief Thomas said on Wednesday.

Back inside the Capitol, Democratic lawmakers are preparing to introduce a bill next week that would ban ghost guns in the state.
“I think it has a direct relationship to what happened in East is that it's one of the ways that students are getting guns is these untraceable firearms. Many of them you can order through mail order kits,” said Sen. Chris Hansen, D-Denver.
Ghost guns do not have a serial number and can either be 3D printed or purchased in parts then assembled. They are virtually untraceable.
The bill will do three things: outlaw guns without serial numbers, ban the manufacturing of ghost guns and prohibit mail order of the firearm kits.
People with firearms that do not have a serial number would be given 30 days to register them with the state. For those who don’t and are caught with a ghost gun, Hansen says a first and second offense would result in a misdemeanor charge. A third offense would result in a class five felony under the current draft.
