I know nothing of the mayoral race.
What are his key stated positions that can be viewed as negative?
According to Colorado Sun report only 35% turnout, approx 110,000 total votes.
If you're unarmed, you are a victim.
The run off election was a choice between bad and worse - worse won.
These two made it to the run off only because they spent considerably more in campaign advertising than the decent option(s) could afford.
The results point to the sad state of our political landscape.
All of Colorado is falling. Unfortunately CS isn't immune to this cancer. Even the rural areas are changing.
Imperial China used eunuch to run the bureaucracy of government. Without any chance of progeny there was little reason to steal from the government or the citizens.
I wasn't following the CS Mayor race at all. Been reading up on this guy a bit this afternoon. Guy ran as an independent and doesn't sound like an outright Marxist like most lefties these days.
Church planter, small business owner, endorsed by Bill Elder. He doesn't sound super liberal at face value other than some vague "inclusivity" nonsense here and there. He certainly doesn't sound like anything close to most of today's liberals.
Wayne is a tool, and the "Born to Lose" Colorado GOP played their hand the same way again.
I'm cautiously optimistic about this Yemi guy.
You live in a state with Polis as governor and Rhonda Fields as a state legislator...just to name a few. How bad could this new mayor guy be?
that's a good point^^^^^
I caught Richard Randall "analysis" on his show after Yemi won. (This is my interpretation of his thinking.)
RR wonders if the majority of the other 10 candidates refused to endorse WW for two reasons:
1. WW is just plain untrustworthy.
2. The other candidates think Yemi will fail miserably ... and they'll be able to easily defeat him in four years to FIX what he messed up.
But RR doesn't believe the popular Democrat viewpoint, that Colorado Springs has now become Blue.
______________
Now back to my own opinions....
A "connected" friend was convinced WW would gain all the votes from the other 10 candidates and clobber Yemi in the runoff. Since I don't trust WW a tiny bit, I was afraid my friend was correct.
I watched most of the candidate forums even though living in UN-incorporated Colorado Springs, I don't get to vote. (I "voted" with my wallet by donating to Gonzalez.) If I *could* have voted in the runoff, I'd probably have held my nose (AGAIN!) and voted for WW.
Clark must really despise WW. My impression of her was she was the most liberal of the candidates ... though she's a registered R.
Yemi was backed by Polis. Yemi struck me as both smooth ... and sneaky. (My friend both likes Yemi ... and thinks he's not trustworthy. Personally, I don't know how to balance my friend's two comments....)
Has Colorado Springs become blue?!
Damn, you have to try and imagine some strongholds for conservative opinion, in a state that is slipping into communism and socialism.
Colorado Springs, was that strong point for me.
But now it too is gone.
