No offense to anyone that has one, unless it is on your face.

Some little knucklehead rode his 600 Yamaha rat bike through my condo complex today. On the sidewalks between the buildings, then parked in the bushes.

I was walking the dog and saw it, so I had to say something.

No major confrontation, I told him there are kids and dogs that use those paths so don't ride on them.

At first he said he didn't do it, but I told him I saw him do it. I said don't do it again and he said he won't.

Thanks, buddy.

But how the hell can any one expect to be taken seriously when they have tattoos on their face?

That shows at least one instance of poor decision making.

While I doubt he would have ever been a Fortune 500 CEO, I would not hire him to detail Clint's trike, let alone represent my company.

This is certainly an old man "get off my lawn" rant but what happened to having some self respect?

I am curious about this kid's life. Not enough to talk to him again, but what horrible misery brought him to this point in time that he is riding a crappy bike through a townhome complex, likely to purchase or drop off drugs, and parking in the bushes.

With a crappy tattoo on his face.

6/10, not enough cussing/insulting object of rant but I do have similar view of face tats or piercings.

I've never seen a good face tat either. Most I've seen look like prison tat's.

Tattoos on a woman should be like pinstripes on a Corvette….maybe a little detail to accentuate the basic beauty of the design but you don't make it a separate art form.

I am constantly amazed at the good looking women at the gym I go to who are tatted to the max. No face tats but good grief !!!

But, I generally agree with everything ^. Op, there's a lot of stupid people who have no accountability or repercussion in today's pansy-filled world.

I'm just waiting until tattoos are either a recognized disability or they are added to the employment discrimination laws so Gen Z can have additional reasons to be a victim.

You say that folks with tats get squamish reminds me of my wife?s doc who was going to do the C section and asked me if I had tats. I did not see how that matter but he told me him and the staff wanted to know because majority of the fathers with tats got sick if they saw the slightly gory procedure. I found that odd. But your experience seems to corroborate this.

FWIW, My DIL was severely burned as a child and used colorful tattoo as a way to hide most of that scarring. She has a full sleeve on one arm/shoulder and a good part of one leg. No neck/face stuff though.

My son started it as a form of support - or so he says. He also has his ears gauged like 1/2" (?) (yea, gross) but keeps them and full sleeves covered at work. They are both professional high income earners and can afford whatever they want to do to their bodies without sucking off the gov teat.

There are always exceptions to the rule...

There was a time when every tattoo had a meaning and a story.

Now that they are "mainstream" young people with no story point at some generic flash and swipe their gold card. They've lost meaning.

My older son has a sleeve, dedicated to his fellow soldiers that never came home along with the Combat Medic symbol. His other arm has a reference to his firefighter/paramedic career. On one of his shoulders he has an American flag motif with “This I Shall Defend” in it.

My younger son, who I love equally, has some dumb ass stuff on his back and arm along with a tribute to a good friend that passed from cancer. His very pretty wife has some decorative work that to me detracts from her outer beauty-she’s a wonderful person with a huge heart so I no longer notice any of the ink.

I came close to getting some work a very long time ago but the booze wore off and I bailed while waiting my turn lol.

Best tat I ever saw was on a friend who turned 18 and got an old school heart with Mom in it. His mom could not decide if it was the sweetest thing ever or if she wanted to kill him.

There are still tats with meaning and a story but as you say "mainstream" has taken its toll and decorations rule.

I saw a young lady with some nicely done Chinese characters tattooed on her right shoulder. I asked her what they said and she didn’t know! ��

Tattoos are kind of like wedding rings.

Some people feel like they need to get them or that they carry real meaning or demonstrate something.

But either doesn't change the person under it. If one has wandering eys, a ring (or vows, for that matter) won't change shit other than advertise a false promise. Otherwise, the ring, or lack thereof, means little to those who are loyal to their core, which is unfortunately, not the most common trait.

Tattoos are kind of like this. Ones in memory don't actually keep the memory if the person doesn't act in accordance with those lost. It's a cop-out. Others that have someone's name advertise a commitment, but the ink carries no value and carries a question... why do they feel a need to advertise an alleged commitment?

I don't have tattoos, or rings. I don't have a negative opinion of tattoos other than the self-inflicted victimation that often comes with it "It's not fair, I got passed up for a job.". Zero fucking sympathy. I do appreciate when people have tattoos in a way that advertises personality flaws, walking red flags are appreciated. That's why facial tattoos are awesome, btw.

PS: I am long married, never divorced.

TLDR: Actions speak louder than words, crap on a finger, or tattoos.

With that said. 15 yrs in the business, retired. NEVER did a face tattoo. Turned people away who asked for them, mostly vato locos in greality and N. ft fun.

Actually offered that option to a lot of people. 1 kid, 16 yr old, with mom along side. Asked, how much for a chevy bowtie across my shoulders, solid blue, thick black outline, maybe 6" high? . Cost you nothing, since i'm not going to do something like that on a 16 yr old

I've always wondered about women who get lots of tats. Are they trying to cover up emotional scars? Trying to be seen in a world that doesn't see them ( or so they feel)? Wanting to stand out from the crowd?

As the FOG (fuckin' old guy) in law enforcement, I've seen this pattern from the early 90's. Tattoos were very frowned upon and would not be allowed to be seen in a short sleeved shirt, to allowing officers to wear long sleeved shirts all year round or arm sleeves to cover the tats, to now, the vast majority of patrol officers have some sort of half or full sleeve going on or worse, tats on their necks and hands. As I said, I'm old school and I don't like this in today's law enforcement, nor do I like the outer protective vest carrier that morphed into full plate carriers I've seen on some people. I was in a small, rural county doing some work a short time ago and the patrol officers looked like they just came from contract work in Syria or iraq, all tacked out with full plate carriers, rifle mags et, al.

Everyone makes decisions that don't turn out well.

Most look at those choices and learn from them, not choose to celebrate them by permanently exhibiting them on their faces.

One of our last camping trips, at a campground, the site host came around and sold us a bunch of wood for our campfire... then a few hours later two forest rangers came by to tell us to put it out because a fire ban just went into effect. They were both wearing plate carriers with like 8 AR15 mags stuck to the front. We packed up and drove 2 hours home.

I don't have an issue with that equipment being available to them in their vehicle. However, I am not a fan of that stuff as the uniform of the day for normal public interaction, even for traditional non-SWAT LE.

As for facial tattoos, back about 20 years ago very few tattoo shops would do those... they called them an "everlasting jobstopper."

Correct about not inking faces. Now a daze, these young guns don't care or have any, IMO, moral guidelines when it comes to tattooing someone.

I've got a couple of tats. One rings my left ankle, and I've got another one on my thigh, about the size of my hand. Each one of them took me a very long time to decide upon, then I needed to find the right tattoo studio, where I watched and asked a lot of questions and made sure sanitary procedures were followed...after which the artist and I discussed options for shapes and colors and so on. They are for me, and quite possibly the single most personal decision I've made regarding body modification. I don't go in for any sort botox or tucks or even manicures/pedicures. Both of my tats commemorate milestones.

Facial tattoos, on the other hand....well, I'm convinced that that sort of stupidity isn't painful enough.
