Just out of sheer curiosity, how do you think this device works?

This reminds me a lot of the strap-on, car fuel line "econimizer" of the 1990's they advertised all over the place.

I feel they work and have them on my house and several of my cars. I bought two more today for my other vehicles due to the sale pricing today. They have a tremendous amount of research and testing on their website. Some believe in them and some will not. I feel it's a small price to pay to protect my house and vehicles.

Well, if they don't work, you won't be able to call or email in the warranty claim!

They use a varistor. Sudden voltage surges are sent to ground. For extra protection make sure you have a good ground. Ground your vehicle to a grounding rod. Make sure your house has a grounding rod.

I'd buy a surplus military generator before I would invest in an EMP shield. Most likely the whole power grid would be severely damaged. A CUCV truck would be really handy if it is the service edition that runs a generator off a PTO. Older diesel trucks more likely to survive than newer vehicles that rely on semiconductor components to run. Links below show some options.
