Heard about it a couple days ago.
I think there are a lot of lifelong, old-school Democrats that feel the party has passed them by.
I wonder what somebody like Tip O'Neal would think about the current D party?
I know a lot of people who were considered Liberal back in the 80s and 90s.
Their political positions remain exactly the same, but now they're called "Right wing" or even "Nazis" by a Democratic party who has moved the goalposts so far they're Left of Mao.

In fairness a party that used to be fiscally conservative has splintered off to hero-worship a narcissist that inflated the nat'l debt by 40% in a single term and now 70% of our gross revenues service interest. Our country only has one of two futures either a) significant and ongoing inflation with high interest rates, or b) insolvency.
So the "conservative" party may as well be called the Only Trumper Cult, while the original fiscal conservatives are also wondering where their party went, as it too as gone "left of Mao", e.g., printing stimulus checks to placate people into ignoring rediculously abused/corrupt socialist spending practices.
There is no fiscally conservative party anymore, they both are fucking socialists. One is just midly more honest about it.
It says a lot about the state of this country when you have Dems leaving the party as well as Repubs. doing the same.

Exhibit A, an Only Trumper speaks. Because of their "Trump or Bust" mindset, we have close election races running against Democratic candidates that wouldn't have a chance in frozen hell of prevailing against anyone else other than the established loser that is an elderly Trump. A candidate that has more bankruptcies than ex-wives, a proven track record of failing at elections, previously was a registered democrat, and donated to HRC. A candidate that openly admits to corruption and made promises in the past such as "I'm going to pay off all the national debt", while increasing it more in a single term than any president in U.S. History. A candidate that exhibits all the classic symptoms of true narcissism personality disorder, including the black/white love/hate relationship with his enemies and closest allies. A candidate that sings praises for Kim Jong Un but demonizes conservative allies like General Mattis for simply disagreeing.Quote:

If anyone was a progressive plant, it was Trump - whether or not he was in on it, he destroyed the conservative party and made them effectively noncompetitive against even the biggest progressive losers. Biden couldn't have prevailed against any of the other candidates four years ago. And Kamala does even worse, but here, she actually has more than a chance.

Mike Pence could have won. All he had to do was almost say nothing. I still think it is all a farce and the MIC decides the winner. The MSM is just propaganda. Both candidates are scary.

Fortunately, we're in Colorado, so it doesn't make a lick of difference anyway.
There's some positives with him, and gigantic negatives. Different than Kamala, but nevertheless, gigantic negatives. There are more than a million conservatives that would do a far better job.
But the sky is falling crap and "Trump or the world ends" is the biggest crock of derangement there ever was. If it wasn't for that mindset, we'd have an electable candidate. It's this mindset that will result in for more progressive years.
If you want to win an election, you pick an electable candidate from the inset.

Politics 101: Don't bet on the horse with the worst stats at the beginning of the race. Pretty sure an 8 year old could tell you that one. Interesting thread. Lifelong big name democrat supporters leaving the party and explanations with examples of “TDS” ( which I thought was bs until seeing this thread). All in all pretty entertaining, too bad the future stakes are so high as we are rapidly approaching a determining crossroad event this November.

As FoxtArt said, had the Republicans told Trump "No Thanks" and moved on, this would have been a landslide for them but Trump is more polarizing than anyone I can think of, as evidenced by this thread.
Will I vote for him? No, I will vote for the 3000- 4000 appointees that will be in his administration if he wins. They align more with my views than the people that will run things if Harris wins, especially with the impending retirements of Supreme Court justices. I do not want Harris to be able to nominate a leftist.

In all honesty, I do not believe they have actually counted votes for a Presidential election since Carter got elected. I believe it's predetermined over a year in advance.
Besides, POTUS is basically just a symbolic figurehead appointed to "represent" us internationally, sign papers, and give the occasional speech. That position holds far less actual power than most people seem to think, and an Executive Order seems little more than a strongly worded suggestion.
American "politics," as portrayed in our media, seems about as real as professional wrestling.
