Colorado Senate passes bills on firearm ammunition, gun show rules
That SB on gun shows essentially means the end of them............. due to go into effect 1 Jan 2026.

I mean, reading it, shows will require all sorts of plans and registered vendors, and If I am reading it right, ONLY vendors with an FFL and State license can sell modern firearms.
The latest raft of anti gun bills has been an all out attempt to eliminate the gun culture in Colorado.

An amendment to the original bill has language that is confusing to me regarding that issue.
"(b) "GUN SHOW VENDOR" DOES NOT INCLUDE A PERSON WHO IS NOT A FEDERAL FIREARMS LICENSEE WHO SELLS, OFFERS FOR SALE, OR TRANSFERS A FIREARM TO, OR EXCHANGES A FIREARM WITH, A GUN SHOW VENDOR WHO IS A FEDERAL FIREARMS LICENSEE AT A GUN SHOW, INCLUDING TRANSFERRING A FIREARM TO A GUN SHOW VENDOR WHO IS A FEDERAL FIREARMS LICENSEE FOR SALE ON CONSIGNMENT OR TO FACILITATE A PRIVATE FIREARM TRANSFER.".
So in the definition, those who participate in gun shows who sell items that are not firearms, would not be considered a gun show vendor per their definition and thus, not subject to the requirements put forth for gun show vendors?
It is very confusing to me.
That means someone at a show who sells a gun TO a vendor or leaves it for consignment, is not considered a "GUN SHOW VENDOR".Quote:

I think you are right in your assessment. With roughly 50% of the current show vendors being non-FFL holders, this will effectively wipe out the gun show as it exists now, possibly for good. The vendors selling holsters, optics, gun parts, t-shirts, coffee cups, food and the like, fill the show tables. Without them, the shows won't make it.Quote:

How many people go to gun shows to sell guns that aren't FFLs?
I haven't been to one in years so I don't know the makeup of individual sellers wandering about versus FFLs that buy a booth.
So FFLs can sell beef jerky, but those that sell beef jerky can't sell at gun shows ...without a FFL.

In the definitions section under the definition for a gun show the include this: "A GUN COLLECTORS SHOW MAY 24 ALSO INCLUDE VENDORS THAT SELL PRODUCTS THAT ARE NOT FIREARMS."
I belive that the way the bill is worded that any vendor that is buying/selling firearms needs to be certified as a gun show vendor by the gun show promoter as to their FFL status and those vendors then have to comply with the requirements of the bill as a gun show vendor as in displaying their FFL license and adhering to the requirements of having the firearms secured to the table or wall and so on. Anyone else selling random stuff at a gun show would not go through the certification process or need to comply with the bill requirements for gunshow vendors.
The certification process is listed at 18-12-504 and the show requirements for a gun show vendor are at 18-12-505.
The CRS you list is current statute; the bill is going to change the statute. The bill carves out and defines a gun collector show as a C&R show and defines it as not being a gun show and allows non-firearm vendors as indicated by what you posted. However, there is no like carve out for the defined gun shows. It very specifically defines what a gun show vendor is and what is required to be a vendor and there is no carve out or definition for a non-firearm vendor.Quote:

I've seen a couple over the years who are there to sell their father's gun collection and have made an agreement with the vendor on the next table to do their background checks. As long as they have the background check conducted, it was perfectly within the legal boundaries and it provided a means to negotiate a sale outside of the FFL vendor who needs to buy it at a lower price to be able to put it on their table and sell for a profit.Quote:
