Stealing last minute Christmas presents?
The period between Thanksgiving and NYE is called "robbin season." Not so much in Denver, but in certain cities in other states armed robberies and carjackings skyrocket... the carjackings typically occurring in shopping center parking lots and they work in teams, a stolen car letting a passenger at a time out to do a carjacking. Been an ongoing pattern for over 20 years.
Sounds like Rocky Mtn Shooter supply in Fort Collins got hit a few days later too
I hate this state more and more everyday. All the good decent people are leaving or already moved, and the only people coming to Colorado are criminals, illegals, liberal leftists, and gays. I have a feeling were gonna see a lot more serious crimes in the future.
At USA Liberty, it was reported they backed a stolen car into the corner windows near the door and was likely connected to a string of similar hits in the metro area. 5 days later Rocky Mountain was hit, in another stolen car using the same technique. Suspects are at large / unknown at the moment, this appears to be a pretty organized crew.
Owner of Liberty is a buddy of mine, and although I'm sure their insurance will cover the handful of guns and damage to the building, the top to bottom inventory and hassle during repairs could not have been fun.
Rocky Mtn Shooter Supply was hit AGAIN yesterday morning for the second time in just a few days. I'm not sure of the details but when I was in there yesterday they were talking about it.
They must have identified a weakness or vulnerability the first time, that sucks. I shop there quite a bit.
That location is like 30 seconds from I25, so making a hasty departure in virtually any direction is pretty easy.

Fox31 story about the burglaries and some video footage. Sorry, owner of Rocky Mountain Shooters supply sounds like a bit of a 'tard
How can any stores have failed to install bollards and other structure upgrades by now?
Not just gun stores, but anyplace that sells vaping products for example.
Some property owners will not let you install bollards.
In that case you need the heavy concrete barriers, but sometimes they are not practical.
Best thing to do is lock up the thieves that commit the crimes, but in this state it isn't what gets done.
Richard
Imho it is probably because like every career, a great number of them are barely scraping by. Guns have horrible margins, its all the other stuff that they can turn a dollar or two, but gun stores are not usually known to be a lucrative business. I wouldn't be surprised if 25-50% of LGS do not have the flexibility to spring for a $5,000 capital investment no matter how much sense it makes, they are paycheck to paycheck at best and like many small businesses, many are a sinking ship, money spent is just increasing the sink.
So the issue then becomes, there'll always be a store that is sufficiently weak to target. Even if all stores expent $50,000 in capital investments hardening the door, and all of them had all of this stuff, the theives will just use a new method, because we're not looking at Dave Chappelle's "Hey maaaannnn" doing these robberies, it's organized cartel. Blow up the front of the building? Steal a concrete truck? Not out of the question.
I don't disagree that if I had a store, I'd want to harden the front, but this is a rather unique problem that LGS's are facing starting since about ~2015 or so and only growing. Outside of a claymore, I don't know what really fixes this either.
