Anyone consider we have a monthly meeting someplace around town, never bad to get to know other like minded people that live in your area (hint, hint).

Not a bad idea. I really can't commit to any dates as my schedule is always last minute and I travel the state a lot. If there's ever a M&G at a Hooters I'd try real hard to make it for some wings and [Beer]
What about something for the folks in Colorado Springs?
Any interest?
Colorado Springs here too.
I'm in........
Springs close enough.
perhaps...
I'm in but far away from here [Peep]
I've thought it would be nice to meet some of the local board members. The business has me pretty busy right now but I'm down for putting together something for the Pueblo crowd.
I'm pretty new to the area so if someone knows a good bar or greasy spoon we could meet up for a drink or two after work.
I agree. It would be a good idea to have a forum meeting in order to get to know each other better and share ideas. I'm interested in any denver metro meetings.
COS members and surrounding members any ideas for a local meet and greet?
Saturday or Sunday? I could always use friends outside the Military or people to go shoot with!
I'm up for it, lets get it going.
Rico
I'd be up for it.
SE Denver area/Castle Rock
Ha! At least we can access this site on the DOD computers!!!!
Anything up North?
Yea, It's where the opening was. Turns out most of the things I heard about Pueblo were damn lies. It's a nice little town.
Interesting note: there are more gun stores per capita than the Denver metro area. [Beer]
heck ill be up for a hooters meet up or a even a range meet up when it warms up
I thought thats what the monthly range meetings are all about.
I'd be interested, I need to make it to a shoot though.
i would like to start a monthly meeting of like minded people in the denver area to talk about preparing, survival and general info. i think we could create a great support channel. i live in lakewood. let me know what you think. thanks
I am also interested in a meet. I live in SE Denver/Aurora area
What about a meet at the next shoot? I can bring a BBQ
if any one would like to do this in the lakewood area send me a pm
Not a bad idea but we just have to look at the weather. The last two times I went to the south site it was nice up till 1pm or so and then took a turn for the worst. The shoot is 3-13-10. I need to change this because I just screwed up posting the date.
And what topic would the masses want for the first meeting?
My thoughts are to start at the basics; water, shelter, signaling, first aid, hyper/hypothermia and firestarting.
Once those are down the person can get through more than a typical stranding/emergency. A hunter jeeper or hiker getting lost happens a helluva lot more frequently than an earthquake.
As for a place to meet, who would be for also doing an "Open Carry" at a local Starbucks since they're not supporting the Brady Bunch kooks?
Just no Starbucks in Denver, since Denver doesn't have to play by the law.

Starbucks is Pro-Gun?
Yes, yes they are

That is awesome, hopefully they never give in to anti-gun pressure!
I'd say they are more pro law than they are pro gun. I'm sure they'd rather NOT have people with guns in their place, but not if they have to come down on people's freedoms to get that.
I'd be down for a meet in the springs area. I wonder if anyone is younger than me...
I wouldn't mind hitting up one of the upcoming shoots either, but the 13th is out, I'll be out of town.
I also can't make the 13th shoot this month.
Just another thought:
Why not hold it around the weekend of the Tanner Gun Show? Perhaps the Saturday Evening right after the show closes?
Just a thought.
Nut
Stuart, you beat me to the punch. As I was reading through the thread I was intending to respond that they are more "pro-Rights" and have taken the position that they don't want to get in the middle of this issue. Of course, it'll just take one moron to pull a stunt in a Starbucks (mass killing, etc.) to get them to change their stance.
Their position is surprising given their target demographic tends to be more of the tree hugging / kum-by-ah singing crowd (Not that they don't have plenty of folks like us that frequent the place).
We can always hope that this hypothetical situation goes the other way: that a CCW holder saves a bunch of people in a Starbucks from some crazed killer.
But I'm sure the Associated Press will still spin it with "Armed Veteran Kills Undocumented Cash Deposit Taker" or something.
