Anyone know what this thing is?????

Gun is a 45 caliber, single action with a single stack magazine. The only marking is a serial number on the bottom of the magazine well. There are no markings on the slide at all. There is no obvious marking removal indicators such as grind marks. The slide and frame match and there do not appear to be add-ons. It looks like a stock weapon and we just cannot determine its lineage.

The weapon has some very distinguishing features such as the beaver tail, slide mounted safety and frame tactical slide mount. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is the only picture we have as the weapon is currently in evidence.

The second option to upload the pic is to shrink it to an allowable size and then attach it. You have to save it from your e-mail first.

Uh, what is a frame tactical slide mount? seriously...

What LE agency? There are a lot of people on this site that could probably come by and look at it for you for a better indication of what the gun is if you can get a pic up.

I believe that he means that it's rather funny to think folks would be (and DO!) attempt to link pics from their mail accounts or even from their hard drives and the end result is a "spit-take" (of Mt. Dew none-the-less).

S A FRIDAY, Sorry one of our dic's wrote the description I should have changed that, a frame tactical slide mount is a rail system. Also having a bunch of guys come to the S.O. is not an option as the chain of custody would be an absolute mess bringing it in and out for people to check it out.

Colt made some "Generals Pistols" in the 1940's on which there were no markings, etc. Even though yours in NOT a Colt, maybe you can contact them and ask how they identify firearms with no markings.... I dunno, just a thought.

Here is the information a person would use to request the ATF lookup a firearm's serial number if the gun was lost or stolen. Note: The Federal Firearms Licensee (dealer) who sold you the firearm must be "out-of-business (OOB)," otherwise they claim they cannot conduct the search.

Records get turned over after the dealer goes out of business and are presumably kept forever.

Or:

It could be a "home made" weapon...

Or:... It sucks not having any other markings to help out... Did you strip it and examine internals for other serials/markings/etc?

It almost resembles one of the Wyoming Arms Series of pistols. If I remember they bought the tooling from AMT and made a short run of not so great semi's based on the automag series. I used to have one in 10mm, it was a real piece of work. The markings were laser etched on the stainless so they could have been easily polished off and I do remember the serial # being stamped on the butt of the pistol.

I did not get a chance to put hands on the weapon. I as given a copy of the picture as I am a gun guy in hopes that I could help identifying it. I believe that a request has been sent to the ATF but as we all know fed time is a lot slower than our time.

Was suggesting someone like a gunsmith come check it out from the local area. Sorry, was in a bit of a hurry this morning when I posted and didn't really express myself too well.

Yes, now that I'm home again and seen the pic, it does indeed appear to be a Laseraim mod. 4525AS SERIES II in .45 ACP with the slide markings worn off/rubbed off/removed. I found some chatter on another blog about Laseraim selling off their company to AMT in 1995. If you are trying to find records on the gun, you might want to contact AMT and see if they retained Laseraim's old records during their merger.

If the few reviews I saw didn't indicate it's kind of junk, I'd really like to have one made in Thermopolis. My father is from there and I still have a lot of family in the area.
But if the people making them drank like my relatives do, I'm not surprised that quality wasn't all that great

Bingo! That's the name I couldn't remember! And the laseraim guns were manufacturered by Wyoming Arms as I recall (so, good call to ThVigil11 as well!)

I was "TOLD" that Laseraim bought the Wyoming/Parker design, and is manufacturing it in a vastly improved re-design. I have met several people who own Laseraim pistols, and they all like them. I have personally held a 7" 10mm, and it had the accessory scope mount. Fit, and finish were very good.

thats one thing that gives it away... its a FRAME beaver tail, and not a grip safety.
