Look what happens when you resist arrest.

Now that's old school police work right there...
the officer is in danger if you ask me, he is out numbered and even as he is handling the one girl the other is on his back. She could have easily had a weapon.
When you engage a police officer in an act of resistance you deserve what you get within reason.
I guess he should have maced her or maybe tazed her. That would have gotten her attention.
My father was in Law enforcement for most of the last 30 years. I am really getting sick of the public not giving them some respect. She was still standing. He didn't hit her hard enough.
At least in this video i don't see anything wrong here. The minute she laid her hands on him she is guilty of assaulting a police officer.
Why is this a big deal ???
Don't resist the cops.. and DO NOT try to stop a cop from arresting someone.
these are simple concepts.
stupid kids.
Fight with a cop what else to you expect to happen. I bet she would have or already did something that should have put that girl into jail.
Should've just tased her and gotten it over with. She would have been much easier to cuff that way. And he wouldn't have been "hitting" her.
For the civilian resisting arrest and the other trying to intervene, Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. [Bang]
Um How many white girls go around assaulting cops? Just a sterio type I know But I am on a Non PC kick for probable the rest of my life
Usually I would complain that she never should have been approached for something like jaywalking, but that is besides the point. Even if you don't feel like you should be arrested, resisting isn't going to make your case for you. Being surrounded by all those people, I likely would have panicked and knocked them both out. That's why I'm not an officer. ;)
[ROFL3] That was awesome.[ROFL2] I foresee a race card being pulled.
I'd agree with your "alleged" jaywalking, if this hadn't of been in an area where jay walking has been a problem for so many years that the city built a pedestrian overpass. Usually I'd say that a jay walking ticket is BS.
:)
looks justified to me... as said before - outnumbered and they were not being nice to begin with...
Totally justified to my eyes.
They even said it was justified and not against their department/agency policy.
Those 2 girls are lucky that they didn't get tased or pepper sprayed.
What is jaywalking anyway? My wife is useless for all these typical American questions, she was chauffeured to school and lived on a private island so I don't think she ever walked across a city street in her life :D
Technically, you're not supposed to cross a street outside of the crosswalk and when the walk signal is not illuminated. I've never gotten, or known anyone to get a jaywalking ticket. It's not really something you have to worry about in the suburbs.
Lucky she just got punched in my opinion... as stated before, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
"Ma'am, you were jaywalking and almost caused an accident. Can I see some ID please."
"I'm not showing you shit..."
"Then I have to place you under arrest."
"This is bullshit! You ain't arrestin me!"
struggle, struggle, struggle... 2nd girl gets involved....
POW (just like Batman).
He should have punched the other cow too.
I think jay walking tickets suck. I think they are nothing but taxes being collected by a different kind of tax collector. However, that is a battle not to be fought on the street but in an election booth. If a cop gave me a jay walking ticket, I'd vent my frustration to him and move along. I would not attack him. I think the system is wrong with the tickets they give but I think the girls had a chip on their shoulder.
If you attack a cop....some things that I am absolutley sure of are......
1. Being a female, don't mean shit
2. Being 17, don't mean shit
3. Being black, don't mean shit
Some other things I am absolutley sure of....
The girls lawyer will scream loudly about
1. She was female.
2.She was only 17.
3. She was black and it was racialy motivated.
thing 1 was resisting arrest
thing 2 commited assault on a peace officer and obstruction of justice.
bitch got what she deserved.
I hope the guy doesn't get thrown under the bus.
my bet is obama keeps his fool mouth shut this time.
Seattle PD and the Union already came out and said they were backing the officer. I love when people catch stuff on tape to support idiocracy
It's too bad this video didn't turn into a public service announcement of how difficult it is to jaywalk or resist an officer with taser probes stuck in your ass.
Those "ladies" should have followed these tips from Chris:

(I know it's old...it's still funny!)
The interesting thing there is that the video was originally being used to show "just how out-of-hand and abusive the officer was. Now it's evidence FOR the officer and AGAINST the girls.
the key to trying to use video to support your position is that you have to make sure you're in a good position to start with.
I'm sure that officer would have preferred to go home that day without having to strike a 17yo girl, but (to use a cheesy line), Play with the bull, get the horns.
Good punch.
Different take on things: I think the punch was justified. Taser wouldn't be a "smart" work as there were two of the girls, plus a crowd. The crowd could've gotten involved while teh cop was tasing and trying to subdue the first girl. Last time I was tazed, for each pull of the trigger a different cartridge had to be inserted which took up to several seconds. Asp would've been an option but then people would scream Rodeny King. Pepper spray might've worked, but again there is the other girl and the crowd to worry about. If the officer accidently got some in his eyes, etc... bad ju-ju. He could've just pulled the gun, but things could've gone south really quick doing that... I thought an old school beat down was more than appropiate and I must also conclude that he didn't hit her hard enough.
I wonder if they sent her amber-lamps?

There ya go..... [LOL]
As far as jaywalking goes it's the law for a reason. You don't need a bunch of a$$hats thinking they can just walk out into the street when and where they want. That would be a major safety risk to the pedestrians and vehicles.
Good to hear the PD is backing him.
I have a feeling it may be a cultural thing................
I do work at a night club that as a pure hip hop night that brings a lot of african americans.
The club is on a corner. Most nights ( unless someone's car happens to be parked directly across the street) people will walk to the corner and cross in the crosswalk area.
Not on these nights. folks will walk right out to the middle of the street and STAND THERE. they will cross against the light and YELL at the cars for driving. I've heard the actual words " I'm fucking walking here watch where your driving" again this is while the cars have the green light and the peds have the little red hand that says don't walk.
Must be a cultural thing.
good way to get ran over... and you probably deserve it if that's your attitude.
You are absolutely right.
while driving to my destination in a neighborhood on the south end of town, a group of kids were playing in the middle of the street. All black and latin kids, no white kids. Most of them got out of the way when they saw my car approaching.
However one child for whatever reason felt he didn't have to move out of the way of my vehicle, and sat on his bike in the street right in front of my car just looking at me. This went on for about a minute.
It actually worried me. Several plans of action formed in my mind, most I dismissed outright because I'd probably get arrested. I tried honking and yelling, to no avail. My main worry was that an adult family member would come out into the street and start the "whachoo doin' to mah baby" routine. I was armed.
fortunately the proud zulu warrior got out of the way with a quickness when he saw me take my seatbelt off and reach for the door handle.
the kid was about 7 or 8, and this was about 6 or 7 years ago, so I'm willing to bet the little fuck has seen the back seat of a cop car since then.
When I go to pick my daughter up everyday, I have to just coast through the entire neighborhood because the kids are just running around in the streets. Many of them don't move until you are right on top of them, and not because they are being jerks, but because they are too young to know any better and totally unsupervised.
Rgr that, I've actually bumped some kids gently as they wouldn't move. They start cursing and kicking the car until I get out and then it's like "Oh sorry mister, blah, blah, blah."
I'm young, but the "younger" generation has no thought of others... it's all me, me, me, 100% of the time.
even my generation is that way...
They all think they're the toughest thing on earth, until you get out of the truck to beat some manners into them. Thens it's "I sorry I didn't mean to, I thought you were someone else" crap.
Yeah but in my story ....... and in the OP's story .. they are adults or near adults.
I honestly believe it's a cultural thing. We often have to start directing traffic down the main road and not on the secondary road we are cornered with... just because everyone is standing in the street and treat us like assholes for asking them to move out of the street and cuz they are yelling at cars. This is how fights start.
It's rather amazing to watch.
