I'm saying Lesner.....he's a beast.
What's your call?
Who are they?
UFC Heavyweight Champion and Interim Champion.
I WANT Carwin to win.
And you know, it's a tough call. Lesnar's been out of the ring for over a year,
Carwin is coming off 12 straight wins.
They're both beastly.
Lesnar is more physically impressive as far as size goes,
but Carwin's stand up and strength is nothing to joke about.
His fists are the size of lunch boxes.
Carwin
It's an easy decision for me, Carwin all the way. Lesnar is just a huge dude from WWE(gay) and has only his body weight to win. Carwin is from Greely and a more rounded fighter than Lesnar. As long as it doesn't go to the ground Carwin should win. Also, out of the 12 wins Carwin has, 9 of them didn't make it to the 2nd round...badass fighter!
I'm not to into the UFC. At first I thought this was a court case.[Tooth]
Lesner-I wish these PPV fights were more affordable [Rant1]
I don't like organized fighting. I think there should be no rules (learn how to block a cock-shot for goodness sake) and a solid knockout should be the only criterion for winning... There are too many "champions" or whatever the title is, who win with some gay rules... I was always taught you fight to win period. You make sure the other person physically can't get up and pyscologically refuses to get up. You make sure they won't ever bother you again. Then, and only then is the fight over.
I don't watch UFC though I've seen some cage fighting and other "MMA" type fghting... wasn't on TV though, lol.
Carwin.
If it stays standing - Carwin
If it goes to the ground - Lesnar
that would be no fun at all. First guy to land a nut shot or an eye gouge would win.
Besides that, people would probably regularly get maimed for life and/or die.
If you're into that, I'm sure there are some "venues" where you could find such a thing.
If not, the UFC provides an arena for skilled combat with just enough rules to protect the fighters, and make sure they come back to fight another day.
And for goodness sakes, it's LESNAR.
LESNAR
and while I don't like him, he's not "just big" his an all-american NCAA wrestling champion, and a very seriously talented athlete. Anyone saying he's "just big" is seriously underestimating him.
Easy tiger......and don't tell LesnAr I don't know how to spell his name correctly. [Beer]Quote:

Not to mention Lesnar is a gun nut....thats got some count to it right?

Clordradoians for CARWIN ;)
Lesnar reminds me to much of Tyson,,street brawler.
That's all talk Bear. Those would be the most boring fights in the world and you'd never have a return fighter.
I have a DVD of a cage match championship where shots to the groin, and some forms of eye gouging are legal. Pretty much everyone who loses never fights again.
That'd be like trying to have a season of football where each person only gets to play one game each. Bear you should actually WATCH some MMA and I bet you'll gain some appreciation for it.
Anyway, I'd like to see Carwin win, and I tell my self that he has the best chance yet; but I still won't be surprised when Brock wins.
Carwin. He's a good guy. They are showing the fight free at the greeley stampede.
Carwin
I don't know how ready he is, but I want Lasnar to win.
Yes, there's something to be said for his HUGE physique, but more than that, I saw a story on who this guy really is. According to the story, Lesnar is truly a good guy.
There's more than one form of eye gouging?
Lesnar (and with the way I pick sports you guys should put your money on Carwin [ROFL2]).
hmmm... Isn't that the point though - Who is the best, period? I guess I'm just not into it.
I've tried watching it a few times actually. There are so many opportunities missed by each party to end the fight that I just don't care to watch it anymore.
I understand sparring and training to be a warrior. I don't understand putting on underwear and getting paid (great money sometimes) to fight. I just don't get it. Eh, to each their own. Sorry for upsetting some of you.
You can eye gouge, but only with your chin. You can't use your fingers or elbow or anything. This guy has his opponent in his guard and smashes his chin into his eye for like 2 minutes (broken up into a few segments at a time).
Bear, I've seen many times where someone will miss a kick and be spinning around or something and wonder why the other guy didn't pound on him. I've also seen people move in on an opportunity like that and get nailed with a spinning back fist or something. These guys aren't fighting some random purse snatcher or something. They know better than to jump in at what looks like an open opportunity because they respect (or fear) the skills of the other fighter.
Not to mention that they have to fight within the rules as well. Soccer would be a whole different game if you could just kick your opponents in the nuts to get them off the field. I'd like to see headbutts and stomps brought back to UFC myself.
Some of the more legitmate "combat artists" in the sport actually train and know alot of krav maga/fight ending techniques, they just don't use them in the ring.
check out bas rutten's "bar fight" video sometime. It's A) Hilarious and B) provides some good inside into how brutal this guy could really be.
Also, alot of the "missed" opportunities are not missed at all, but given up out of caution and respect for the fighter.
I assume you're pretty decent at martial arts Bear, you've mentioned it before.
But what if you were facing someone equally, or BETTER than you in combat?
Those openings probably wouldn't be so appetizing.
although I do agree that there are many flaws in alot of fighter's games,
That's because most of them are FIGHTERS and not STRATEGISTS.
When you have someone who is both, you end up with people like Fedor Emelianenko or Anderson Silva. Un-friggin-stoppable.
Rgr, and I understand the respect amongst warroirs, especially the first few minutes of feints to guage the other parties technique/skill/reflex/etc. Good discussion with you Irving. The points that would fustrate me were not the missed opportunites while standing (as you mentioned great points for NOT rushing in -with which I totally agree) but the opportunites on the ground. For instance - a fighter is locked in an arm bar. There are several twists that he/she may do that will allow him/her to break or dislocate either the supporting arm or the submitting leg hold over that will effectively break teh arm arm... But I do understand that this would be a violation of the rules and harmful to the fighters. I sometimes think that the rules lead to bad progress that can cause a fighter (who could win easily) to lose. Hope that makes sense. In any case, good discussion. [Beer]
Good stuff.
Carwin!!!
Also, not everyone is well trained in BJJ. The fighters now are a LOT more well rounded than they used to be back in the days of Cabbage and stuff, but still everyone has different backgrounds. It's easy to armchair quarterback a fight about all the possible things they could have done. That frustration is all part of the game.
lesner for sure. I'll be watching it at my sisters, they get every fight[Beer]
Sniper do you WANT Lesnar to win, or just think that he'll win?
I'd like to see someone beat him, but I still think there is a strong chance he'll win.
Lesner...
I fought wayback when it was known as the Bad Man competition. got a case of beer a T shirt a Hat and a kiss from the ring girl.
I admire Brock Lesner, ever since he was a wrestler in college, since he was in the WWE, since he is a huge hunter, avid sportsman...there was a show with him on it deer hunting, he missed his first shot (archery), got the deer with the second. he found it laying in ankle deep water, took some pictures, showed it off for the camera, then with one arm lifted the thing up and threw it over his shoulder...the guy is a badass!
he is a fierce competitor, lots are there are hoping for him to lose. I think he will win, I want him to win.
He is by far the most agile and fastest heavy weight I've ever seen. I hope his PR skills mature at the same rate as his other skills do.
I'm prettty sure he will will. I would like to see him fight Anderson Silva, that would be interesting. What is wrong with Lesner's PR skills. You mean this?
"Frank Mir had a horseshoe up his ass. I told him that a year ago. I pulled it out of him and beat him over the head with it. [Now] I'm going to drink a Coors Light. That's right a Coors. Bud Light don't pay me nothing. I may even get on top of my wife tonight."
[ROFL2][ROFL2][ROFL2]
who needs PR skills when you are as good as him? Is he supposed to be a glamor boy as well as an extreme badass? That is part of his entire persona...being a badass that doesn't care what he says. he has only had to rein it in because of dana white. He learned all the PR skills in the WWE, some will love him more for it, some will hate him more for it....but there is no question that whether you love or hate him...you WILL watch. dana white knows this and that is why Brock is badass
Brock is definitley a good guy and a an outdoorsman and normally I would like to see him win, but I gotta vote for the local guy.
What a bullshit fight. Brock lost the first round and was for sure favored by the ref as he covered up when Carwin was beating in his face. Brock has no MMA skills and only wrestling. Lame...wish I did t waste my money on this fight.
you obviously don't see that Lesner hasn't fought in a year, just got over a life threatening bacterial infection, but in the end still came out the victor...
the first round definitely went to Carwin and 2 different times I thought it would be called. BUT, when it is the main event, Lesner was still fighting back, Carwin was obviously getting tired and nobody has ever seen him go past the first round, the ref was probably instructed to really let it go and give everyone their monies worth.
either way, I just wanted to come on here and gloat since I called it from the beginning.
off to bed.
Call me nuts, but an occasional VOLUNTARY and REAL Gladiator fight (say 1/yr) would be fun to watch. I'm am NOT volunteering for nuttin though!
Most people would be willing to pay me to NOT show myself in just the equivalent of my underwear. I'm just sayin.
Agreed
Still got the beer? er...Hat?
I can't say that I "called it" exactly, but I was hoping!
BTW Sniper - good to see you. Been missing you around these parts as of late.
