real men lay on the cactus![Muaha]
Yeah, you be the real man. I ll bring along my comfy chair and shooting table. [Tooth]
A roll of carpet works well. Also a set of cheap elbow pads from wallmart helps. Don't be tempted to use the nice tactical with the caps, you will roll on the plastic and never stabalize.
The one from midway is cheap ($25) and it works. Not the greatest but as one person said. Your there to shoot not go to sleep. I have two of them.
I use either an old sleeping bag or two sleeping mats. I've seen folks use moving blankets, regular blankets, carpet canvas tarps etc etc. Get created, see what's layin around the house and save some money.
FWIW, I'm a tall guy, 6'5", regular shooting mats are too small for me. That may be something else to consider.
Call Cabellas?
I am well past the desire to use a uhaul blanket or "alternative solution" and an looking a purpose built mat locally before ordering. I am shooting enough to justify the expense. Every mat at Midway shows sold out anyway, and as I said I am looking for a local source before ordering online thanks guys. I will probably end up ordering the mat from Dillon Precision.
Cabellas is not local
Midway is not local
Surgically repaired elbow with nerve and circulation issues, I. have tried this route and the pain increases
I've actually done this too though not intentionally.
I use one of those Temperpedic mattress pads. Just like the astronauts.
I got one of these at The Firing Line in A-town. I don't recall what I paid, but it wasn't $200. It's a great bag after three years of use.

Neither is local, but try Creedmoore Sports or Dillon.
Twin mattress for the win!!!
Doh!
I meant Bass Pro Shops, nor Cabellas -
Try Jax....They carry a Voodoo mat that is great...Been using one for 2 years and love it!!! Around $40
I ordered mine from Creedmoor, but I'd rather have the twin mattress. 7 years of high power shooting gave me tendonitis in the right elbow, and it took me 3 years to get rid of it. I have a feeling the service rifle folks would have a problem with the twin mattress, though.......Otherwise, the Creedmoor is a great mat.
Sorry I missed this,,have an old Creedmore tri fold I'd sell
Received Dillon mat and was disappointed with the padding where my elbows would sit. Oh well I suspect that is typical of these things as they are not designed to be a mattress. I hate having to purchase things without being able to finger f**k them first.
Swing by Jax and try this out...Might want to call them first to see if they have them in stock....
