Hunting with The Judge

Over Christmas, my uncle's, father-in-law and I were talking about pheasant hunting. We were wondering if it legal or illegal to hunt with the Taurus Judge. My thought was that NO, one cannot hunt with The Judge! 1) because the number of rounds in the chamber exceeds the maximum number of rounds allowed and 2) the barrel isn't long enough. I have NO idea if my assumptions have any validity but hey... they sounded good!!!Anybody have any idea?

Oh... and just to make it clear, NOBODY is actually going to go hunting with The Judge, we were just talking about what a kick in the ass is would be to try!

I've tried shooting clays with a bond arms .410 never hit one after about 10 rounds I gave up. I think you'd have a pretty tough time hunting with a judge

i would say the fact that a round fired at that angle would probably go a few miles would deter me from ever thinking about trying it..:)

I think he thinks he's a good enough shot to hunt birds with .45Colt.

in south dakota there is no round limit, so take the beast out there and blast away

I don't think they make a handgun with enough capacity for me to hit a flying target.

The five .45 LCs rounds are a little more difficult than my 9mm to place, HOWEVER... with two 17 rounds magazines I'm bound to hit something!

I have a Taurus Judge 6" barrel and tried to shoot squirls using 2 1/2" shells with #6 shot and at 25ft the grouping was about 2 foot across. It just pissed the squirl off. Next time I'll try buckshot.[UZI]

A non-rifled barrel on a Judge could be fun, but then it'd have to be an AOW and would probably make the gun pretty useless.

pussy....why would you hunt with that a bird shot? I went hunting with my 9mm before.

So disregarding the witty banter back and forth between some spirited members, nobody has answered the question. Could one hypothetically hunt with The Judge!?!

I'll answer. Yes, if you got close enough... Is it legal? Beats me, why would you want to hunt with a Judge? Just get a shotty and don't worry about what you "could" do.

Sorry Hawk, I'm not familiar with the hunting laws. I'm sure someone on here has a link for the DOW regulations though.

I don't EVER plan on hunting with The Judge! It was just a "what if" conversation over a game of cards on Christmas. Personally, I think the judge should never leave the house (Too Ugly).

Handguns are not aloowed for gamebirds except grouse and ptarmigan.

Thank you!!! Not that I'll ever hunt with a handgun, but I can lay to rest the discussion in the family.

Also there is the 3 round limit even if they were allowed since it might be considered a shot gun.

I saw they are coming out with a long gun based on the Judge. It has that old west revolving action set up with a six round capacity. The article I read mentioned it will have three removable plugs if you ever want to try hunting with it.

Is that the Taurus Circuit Judge?
