Shopping cart rant

Came out of Safeway today and found that some stupid fucktard ran their cart into the side of my truck. Not a huge dent but big enough and on the driver's side that I will notice it and it will piss me off everyday. Now, I'm not like all the other fat ass lazy people that squeeze my truck in between two other cars just so I can park two spaces closer to the door. After all I don't want those dumb bitches denting my truck with their doors. I have seen it too often. Some fat tool opens their door and leans in to load groceries all the while their big ass is bumping and slamming their door into the car parked next to them. Fries my hide. I park near the end of the lot away from everything to prevent this stuff.

My wife will attest that one of my biggest pet-peeves is lazy ass fuckers who can't walk ten feet to the cart corral so they just leave them in the middle of the lot for the wind to catch or to roll into other people's cars. I bitch about it every time we go to the store. In fact, every time I go to the store I round up all the carts in the area that I parked in and put them away just so they don't run into cars...not only my car but everyone else's cars as well. This particular Safeway has cart corrals every 30 feet! Now why the fuck would some dumb punk send their cart rolling across the lot instead of walking their lazy pitiful existence of a life 15 feet away and putting the cart away? This is a perfect example of how indifferent we have become as a society. What has this disrespectful, arrogant and self-centered culture come to that it's OK to damage other people's stuff just because people don't want to strain themselves with a 10 second walk? Damn I'm pissed...[Mad]

Personal responsibilty it not taught anymore. No one cares what happens as long as it's not "their" stuff. Sorry about your truck man. I rant to my wife about the same thing.

You're right Bear. I'm only 28 and even I can see a change in how people are raised. I've worked hard to provide a nice life and nice things for me and my family and I also work hard to be kind, respectful and caring to other people. It just drives me nuts when some individuals are so insolent to other people.

Exactly. That sucks dude. To your point, as I was leaving I actually thought to myself it was a good thing I didn't witness the person do that for the same reason you sat in your truck to cool down.

Happened to me about a month ago but luckly no dent. The people that left the cart just watched it roll into my car, I was in the drivers seat car off helpless

I usually park way away as i have a dually. Onece at Costco we parked all by ourselves way the fuck out in nowhere land and came out and a LEXUS had run into the rear fender. We waited (there was anote on the windsheild), a lady came out said she was hoping to catch us if possible. Gave me all of her info and to make the story short she paid CASH a few days later based on the body shops estimate (1600.00) I think most would have hauled ass.


Anyway Billy Mays is gone but that suction cup thing he was selling is sold at Harbor Frieght for about 10.00 now, it's only good for 1 use as we found out but hey maybe it would work.

One other funny thing about parking lots is 9 times out of 10 when I park at the back of the lot with no one anywhere near me I come out to find a car parked right next to me. I think they do it on purpose. They see a car parked in back, know that I parked there to avoid being near other cars and so they just have to be dicks and park next to me. Thinking the whole time "Who does he think he is parking at the back of the lot. He thinks his car is better than everyone else's. I'll show him. I'll park right next to him." [Bang]

I have a 4 foot scratch on my truck because of some lazy dog at Kings...
Came out and the cart had gone right down the side of it...
I always put my cart in the corral or better yet take it back to the store.. usually when I am parking - I'll see someone finishing loading their groceries and I will volunteer to take their cart back... after all - I will need one... usually not even a a thank you...

I work in downtown Denver, and park in a parking garage every day. I came out one day to leave, and some fuck had apparently been late for work and slid into the spot next to me. This turd had parked so close to the drivers side of my Jeep that his tires were in my parking space!

There's not a human being on this planet that could have opened my door and gotten in, and that's no shit. A child couldn't have gotten in that door. My 300lb. ass had to crawl over from the passenger side, and I was none too happy about it. I couldn't even open the door far enough to pour my stale coffee out.

Thankfully it wasnt my car that got hit but last night in Wally world I hear over the intercom. "will the owner of a silver hyudai with lic number xxxxxx please go to the parking lot. your car has rolled out of its space. could you please repark it." I could just picture it resting up against another car.

Honest truth, I will not drive my personal car to supermarket/mall etc where I have to park my car within few feet of other cars [ROFL1]

Seen that a lot in parking garages. They do it on purpose for sure. Ridiculous the guy tells you that you can't park when he is WAY over the line. And obviously you can park if you can fit your car in such a tight spot!!! The garage owners should make them pay for two spots when they do that.

something like that happened to me at a Wal-mart in NC.
I don't know about here, but there you can swear out complaints such as destruction of private property.

Fat bitch get out of her car and slams my truck not once, but twice.
I Simply got out of the truck and said "I Hope you have insurance."
To which I was met with "Get yo goddamned white ass out ma face!."

She came out with a cart full of Groceries and was met with the NC State police (Jurisdictional thing)
Not only did I Get her insurance information but she violated rule 1 when confronted with a cop.
Her cart full of Groceries and her broken ass car were both sitting there as her took her to jail for assaulting an officer, Damaging private property and leaving the scene of an accident.


You haven't seen anything until you've seen a 400# Fat-ass throwing Pork rinds and diet soda at a cop while trying to run away pushing a grocery cart.

In hindsight it's funny.

My turn; I took my wife's Nissan Murano to the SAR show in AZ,then Santa Barbara,and back thru Vegas with the VERY explicite promise that nothing would happen to it. No door ding, rock chip, fingerprint. So While I was at my cousins house in Prescott, (the second day into my trip), he decides to have a FTD (FuckTardDischarge) with his AR and send a round of Lake City Green Tip thru two walls of his house and into the pass. door of my wife's ride, that was parked on the street. Looked EXACTLY like those bullet hole stickers. Cost him 750$.

I had a lady door my car a couple of weeks ago. What the hell is wrong with people? She didn't know I was in the car, when I got out, she was a little scared. I just asked her to pay attention a little more. I also told her it is sad that I have to tell my 7 year old the same damn thing and that she should think about that a little. Way too damn many people believe their vehicle is only a tool to be used and abused. A lot of people believe they are traded off every couple years so why worry about it. Back in about 1962, I had a brand new shiny VW bug. Parked in a lot that can accommodate about 3 or 4,000 vehicles. I was one of the first to park in that lot one fine Monday morning. Some shit head parked right next to me and opened his door right into mine knocking a nice dent into my passenger door. Waited until he was out of sight and I then smacked his drivers side door with my heel. No black mark but did leave a huge dent in his door. Of course I promptly moved to another location in that lot. I always park in the far end of the parking lots just to avoid having carts banging into my vehicles and those fat assess neglecting to watch where their doors are swinging. Last week, I watched a nice NEW shiny red Hummer pull into the WalMart parking lot. The passenger opened her door quickly and really smacked the door into the cart corral. Neither driver or passenger paid any attention to the dent in their door. Another thing that really pisses me off is the folks that buy their Walmart goods only to remove them from the plastic bag and place their groceries loose in their vehicle trunk. Then they let their empty plastic bag go floating in the wind only to get into someone elses property. Too many people have no regard for the shitty things they are doing. There, now I feel better!!

The cart was still resting against my truck when I got back and I saw it as I was walking up. I'm sure most of the parking lot heard me cursing as I walked up to my truck. Not much wind but either way that's why people should put their cart back. If you leave it out and the wind catches it, still your fault. Not the wind's fault.

I understand accidents and I also understand when someone has the decency to leave a note or say sorry. In that case, no big, accidents happen. The words, "I'm sorry" go a long way in my book.

I have a kid and she rides in the cart as I drop it off at the corral. If the cart corral is full, bring the darn thing back to the front of the store. And I'm not jumping on your case, but you say it's not safe to leave it at full cart corral so you choose to leave it in the middle of the lot? How is that better?

Hope your insurance covered the repairs to your car. My damage is not bad enough to pursue. It just made me think about how careless people are these days.

I've kicked cars that I believed had dented my car before, and I've always had shitty cars. I've also picked trash up off the ground that clearly came from the car parked there (they opened the door and just dumped trash in the lot), on their wind shield.

The other day at a King Soopers I heard a CRUNCH as a car drove into a cart. I looked up to see the car rolling very far across the lot. I ran out to catch the cart before it hit another car. The person in the car stopped their car long enough to see the cart stop by itself (almost a block away), then drove away.

I once had a claim where a lady was sitting inside her parked Honda S2000 in a parking lot. She watched a lady let her cart go and not even make an effort to stop the cart. The lady in the S2000 panicked, started her car and tried to quickly move out of the way. Instead of trying to responsibly back out of her space, she dropped her clutch in first and smashed into the parking block.....then the car hit the car anyway. The lady got out of her car, called the police on the lady that let the cart go. The police officer showed up and (WRONGLY) told the owner of the S2000 that she had no recourse against the lady who negligently pushed the cart into the car, because the cart pusher wasn't in a vehicle herself. Not only did the officer give wrong information, but he stood between the two ladies, and waited until the first lady left, completely preventing the Honda owner from obtaining information to pursue the claim.

I'm sure I sounded like a dumb asshole, but I was so fired up that I called the police station trying to get a hold of the officer to ask him what the hell he was thinking.



EDIT: I get super pissed when I see someone parked at the back of the lot, ONLY when they are still parked across more than one spot. I'd park right next to a car like that.

Really gotta watch the kicking of other peoples cars these days with cameras everywhere (MANY places have cameras covering parking lots). If your luck is like mine, those same cameras would never be allowed to help *you*, BUT they'd sure at heck be used *against* you.

I'll often park my truck in 2 spots at the back of the lot - one spot in front of the other. The spots seem to be getting smaller and my truck is too long to park in just one spot without sticking WAY out into the driving aisle - making it a perfect target for the outstanding drivers CO seems to have these days.

As often as I can, when I shop @ Wally World I'll park over on the end of the store by the entrance into the auto service/products. Very few people park over there and few folks know that you can check out most of your stuff at the auto register (they don't have a scale for weighable food products). I can usually get in, get my stuff, and get out without all of the effort of circling the parking lot like a vulture to find a spot to park in and without waiting in the long lines at the other registers (I refuse to use the self check-out registers - they suck).

So I have a question for the LEOs:

Should I Witness someone intentionally or through negligence damage my motor vehicle on private property/Parking lot, Is it worth it to request an Officer if the person refuses to give Insurance information? Is it good just to get a report?


Last time I responded with the "Byte Stryke" © Method, I got a suspended sentence with time served and had to pay for the repairs to the truck myself.

Byte Stryke, the police may or may not come. In some states, like California, the police won't come to any traffic accident unless there are injuries. You stand a better chance of getting police response here in Colorado. Plus, if you call your insurance company and file a claim (with the intent that they fix your car, then pursue the guilty/negligent party for damages *and your deductible*), it's going to look a lot better for you if you can get an officer to show up and use some verbal judo to get some sort of response from guilty party and piece together a write up. It's kind of a tall order though.

I was referring more to the liability of destruction of private property, perhaps I failed to communicate that clearly.

Having had two separate instances where my truck was damaged in parking lots, I try really hard to park as far out as I can, and so I can pull straight out. I still have people park next to me; I'm pretty sure as well that it's a sport with some. I'd rather walk a couple hundred extra feet than have to deal with yet another problem requiring a body shop to fix. I used to have some cards, business size, that had a nice little saying on them for when someone parked so close to me that I couldn't get in to my vehicle. Ran out, and haven't bothered to find more. I may have to make some up myself, now that I've thought of it again.

I got rear-ended in a parking lot once, and the SOB who did it told me to my face that he didn't care, it was private property, and walked off. Fortunately, it didn't do any damage (I had a truck, and it was a fairly heavy chrome bumper) but I was sorely tempted to do something to his...I managed to resist that temptation but not by much. I don't get how people think this sort of behavior is OK, but then, I suppose I'm glad I don't otherwise I'd probably be like them.
