Im going to buy something, but what?
tell us more about what you have first!
Agreed.
I decided my first accessory for my Bushy M4A3 was a 2-stage trigger. Second was BUIS to clear the rail and prepare for optics. 3rd will probably be an EOTech 512.65.
(I'm probably throwing on a Hogue grip, but at $15 I don't think it counts as an "accessory". )
I voted optical because it has nothing to do with any of the other choices you gave. All the fancy add ons are not worth a damn if you cant hit what your aiming at.
+2 on what You Have. That said, I have no problem with the iron sight, at least yet. Yes, I have shot a few with the fancy-scmancy optics on them. Personally I have found that I'm not that fond of them, YMMV though.
For a cheap upgrade, I would recomend the Hogue grip, I just got one last week, and put it on My M4gery, even though I haven't shot it yet, I can feel the differance. :D
I say get a scope
Reach out and touch somone.
Other...spare mags....GI are best
...like those 30-round D&H Teflon coated mags for $9.79. :D
I have a stock Bushmaster M4A3 w/16" barrel. I have 4 mags and 4 on order.. Are mags really an accessory? I consider them as a necessity. I do have the stock sling that came with the rifle but considering a tactical sling.
Ahhh sling can be the last of your worries. The GI sling is more than workable with practice for all sorts of situations. Practice with it. I was going to buy a fancy sling until I started practicing with the GI and then I changed my mind.
Has anyone said AMMO?
Maybe if you want a fancy M4 style get a railed forend. I recomend the Larue 7.0 I love mine.
aimpoint!
I have over 2000 round in stock now...
Well, I did it.. Got a cheap BSA red dot scope from Gander Mnt.
NOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Like one of these?

ummmm.. why, no?
Come on, let me have it!
I can't take it back if I screwed up!!!
I think what 7 may be saying in His own subtle way is that You should have gotten the aimpoint.
I think You did OK, if You decide that You like the system, You can always get an aimpoint at a later date. :D
i bought my AR with a cheap BSA red dot... haven't had any problems with it yet... but then again i've never seen a nice aimpoint in person either... just rely on the ironsights...
I vote for other. Like a nice bayonet
Sorry, Will, but bayonets don't work on a 16" M4.

My 16" m4 with bayonet.
That's an 11" with a 5" FH, not a 16" M4 profile barrel with an additional FH. A bayo will flop around loose behind the FH.
I did run across somebody selling an abortion of a bayonet that had an extra portion of handle that extended the length sufficiently that the bayonet ring would rest on the FH. I'd post a link, but I'm having trouble finding it again.
ETA: Here's a discussion from ARFCOM with pictures to show what a true 16" bbl carbine looks like with a bayo. There are also some links to extended bayos that will fit a 16" bbl carbine.
