is the Cherry Creek range back open?
yes. but you have to pay the park fee to get to the range.
on top of a 'fee' for shooting?
$$ = ??
yes... you have to pay the park fee to get in the park... then if you want to shoot you have to pay the shooting facility.
Just get a Yearly parks pass, CC is a state park. $30 last I knew, 5 visits would pay for it. Or how ever much it is to get in there anymore.
I just need a spot I can recheck my zeros on my pistols/rifles for 3G ( I know my aimpoint is off!)

Got a park pass for $55 and checked out CC today. Not bad, but a tad on the pricey side. It was great for taking my 11 year old son to shoot, and was a very safe environment. My only complaint (if it can be deemed as such) is that they could stand to add a few lanes and widen the ones that exist a bit - particularly for the rifle side. I liked the fact that they had benches, rests, bags and spotting scopes available.
There were people from all walks of life, which was refreshing to see - even lots of females and kids.
In all, it's not as much fun as some of the other ranges, but I've never been to a range that is more family-friendly, which is HUGE since I've still got one more son to train to shoot in the coming years.
Yes, the Family Shooting Center is nice. I've thought about getting a membership there but haven't, yet.
I will have to start going back there, soon, though if I want to start shooting benchrest rimfire for posting to RimfireCentral's online competitions.
CC is where i usually go, aside from the price it's a nice place to shoot, i could do without the range attendant looking over my shoulder and occasionally commenting from behind.
I had a real bad experience there back in the '80s. I showed up to zero the scope on my AR-15. The guy running the place stood behind me the entire time to make sure I didn't "Rapid Fire that THING." I mean he was being a real a$$ hole and getting me so PO'd I couldn't concentrate. I finally ripped off the last five in the mag just to piss him off! That old fart couldn't have got me off the range fast enough.
I've hated that place with a passion ever since. If he'd have just left me alone to do what I'd come there to do, we'd have all been happier and I wouldn't, to this day 25 years later, be bad mouthing the place. I don't care who's running it today, I'll never go back there.
But I'm not bitter. [pirate]
Entirely different management now. The range officers are usually friendly, unless you break the rules (handling a gun during target change, moving an uncased weapon away from the window). That's when I've seen things get loud, and I don't mean gunshots.
Should be called the "Family Gouge Center" .. So I've purchased 3 new weapons this week, thought I'd head down to the Family Crap Center and at least sight them in and shoot a few hundred rounds. I knew it'd be a wait and I was cool with that... what pissed me off real good this time is a little sign outside their crap building... 2 rifle limit, extra rifles, $8 .. Aug. 1 - Sept 30..
So these rat F*CKERs aren't already gouging folks with their $13 range fee - for those who didn't know, the previous concession owners charged $8 and kept the facility in better condition - which I would be suprised to see go up yet again... they want to charge you another $8 for each extra rifle? Ass holes! I'm done with em'.. Range officers talk sh1t if you're shooting EBR's or weapons with real optics on em'.. Once upon a time it was a good solid place, easy to get to - now you have the additional $6 park fee - What happened to them?!?!?!?!?!?!
That sign must be new since the last time I was there (over a year ago).
Sort of makes sense, from their standpoint. They charge a flat, daily fee. I show up with 15 rifles I want to sight in I take up a window out of their limited supply and there are people waiting for rifle slots during the dates you mentioned.
I don't know anything about range officers talking about your optics. I never heard any of that going on.
