i'm glad i'm not the only nagant fan
Is fine Russian GUN! Is meant for shoot GERMANS![M9130]
mine is stamped 1944,with the tula mark
They are seriously fun to shoot. If you are looking for long range try to find one that has not been counterbored with a good crown. The M44 is fun to shoot as dusk/night with surplus ammo, it has a foot pong muzzle flash!
try this mosin for long range shooting LOL
From what I understand about Mosins, that configuration seems like it could be painful?
Slightly old thread to bring back, but I have a guy trying to trade me one and is trying to get about 200$ in value... I told him that was a little high but he said the condition would make up for it. Could the value really get that high on this rifle?
For one of the rare ones, or a genuine sniper model, or a Finn, or maybe a very nice M38 in a correct M38 stock, sure. But not a basic 91/30 from Big 5. If you have a C&R FFL license you can buy 'em all day long from AIM or other places for $69.95.
I say beware. There's lots of guys that'll refinish an old rifle with polyurethane and call it mint condition.
Thats kinda what I was thinking. He said he restained and blued it himself. It's a round receiver and it's russian. Does that help at all?
Thanks guys. I decided to pass on the deal. He wouldn't throw anything else in. thanks for the quick replies
C&R license holders (and normal folks too, but normal folks had to get an FFL transfer) were buying Mosin's for "5fer"
100 bucks, five rifles - various models.
You can still get an MN from Big five for 100 bucks.
Hex recevier, round receiver, personally blued in Stalin's buttcrack, etc... No appreciable difference in HOW they shoot - but some people try and act as if a hex receiver is BETTER than a round, or a Finnish is better than a Tula, etc...
They are all pretty much the same. They all go bang. Wouldn't touch a 200 dollar Mosin that had been reblued and refinished, They're working guns, period.
I have ONLY hunted with a Mosin for five years now, I haven't missed yet - but I pet load my ammo. I don't use a scope either.
Go out and buy one at Big5, if they're NOT on sale, ask the manager for the "last sale price" and he'll give it to you.
Then buy 100 bucks worth of ammo for it - and you've got a winner!
I've got a '42 Tula that's been sporterized and a '39 Ishevsk that I kept stock. The '39 is a super pretty gun-the stock even looks better than any Mosin I've ever seen.
They're great shooters and will punch through as many frying pans as you can throw at them. I even bought a reloading kit for them, but haven't got around to making any rounds...
I put a scope on mine and took it hunting once.. ive never seen such a big exit hole in a bobcat in my life! [Beer]
I Love mine, The boy and I both have one. I just mounted one of those LER NCStar scopes on it. Hopefully we can go out Sun. and put some lead down range. Only if my sons Eagle Scout project gets done Sat. I will update later, let you know if that scope is worth a c**p.
I suppose the zombie thread resurrections are to be expected.
