I swear I saw a Nikon D40 camera for sale here recently for $300, but I can't find the thread now. Am I dreaming? Is it still up and I'm missing it? Was it pulled or sold? Somebody's messin' with ol' Ron? Maybe another board.....

I was wondering the same thing Ron as I remember seeing too but I couldn't remember if it was a D50 or D40. Went to look for it again and couldn't find it either!
Now to make matters worse because I can't remember where I saw it either but here is a D60 SLR for $350 and I thought it might be the same one but cannot remember. Was this the same one as a thought I saw posted here? The user names look familiar but maybe it's just me going crazy!!!

I have a P90 for sale. Not an SLR but a damn good camera with zoom you would pay 1K plus for in a removable lens. And I'm always open for trades. [Tooth]
It sold yesterday. Ask me how I know. :)
I didn't buy the D40 but I was with the guy who did.
I was also going to link to the Pinecam thread for the D60...another smokin' deal. But it's apparently gone, too.
Nice! I was just trying to figure out the differences between the D40/50/60 besides the megapixels and why each model is selling for about the same price used on CL for around $3-350? Would have thought the higher end models would be much more $$$
Some nice deals on CL rondog...
Yeah, the D60 has a few more features and higher resolution.
I've owned a D40 for about 4 years. It's a pretty awesome camera for an entry level. Hard to go wrong. You can get the D40X (10.1 MP, I think) for just a few $$ more on a new one.
I've really got the itch for a D90 or a D7000 but I just don't have the money right now.

I believe this was the gentleman.
I was looking at it too. I have a couple of Nikons and like them both. The D40 looked to be smaller than my D1h but there were some drawbacks. Glad it went to a good home.

BTW: I can get Energizer batteries, for most all Nikons, fo a decent price. Been using them in both my cameras with good success.
It was rfizzle that had it for sale. I looked but being a Canon guy......[Coffee]
What I'm really curious about is the D3100, anybody know anything about them? I damn near pulled the trigger on one over the holidays. My niece is getting married soon, so I need to get something. I need another good camera anyway.
Years ago, I used to shoot a lot of biker events and sold a few hundred photos and a couple of articles to Easyriders and other bike rags. Did a couple of assignments, covered some of their bike rodeos, tattoo shows, etc. My F3's were wonderful and I had some killer lenses, but they weren't autofocus or digital. I've had a lot of photos published, but I've got a lot stashed that aren't printable! Drunk biker chicks, gotta love 'em! http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...es/boobies.gif
Here is a review.

Well, I went ahead and made the leap, and bought a new D3100 kit with the 55/200 second lens. It remains to be seen if I have the brain cells to figure out how to operate it!
next camera purchase for me will be a d90.
Congrats on the 3100, rondog. And I really had the itch for a D90, too. But, I'm gonna go with the newer model...the D7000.
I've read really good stuff about it and I like the metal body as opposed to the plastic one.
my wife has a D90 and loves it
The D90 looked very cool, but it was a helluva lot more $$$, and I'm a cheap bastard. The reviews were very good for the D3100. Took me years to pull the trigger on this, but I've always loved photography and I figure I'll use this a lot more than a new rifle. I rarely get to use the ones I have. At least now I can take good photos of them.
Yeah...pics of your new camera taken with your new camera. No mirrors allowed.
