where does a guy find a list of them?
awesome... thanks.
They give them at the DOW offices on Broadway and 58th too.
My wife and 11 year old just completed the one from Bass Pro. They said it was very good.
I had a ton of little kids in my class i took last year in longmont
My wife and 8 year old just took it two weekends ago. Needless to say we were not very happy with the experience. My son only has about a second or third grade reading level and we were told that my wife could help him read it but not give him the answers. Then right before the test they were told that he had to do it on his own. He needless to say didn't pass.
Be wary if you are told this prior to signing up. Thanks
That is BS. My son recently took it and there was a lot of kids in the class. One younger girl and a middle aged woman must not have done too well on the test because after the instructor graded it he took them aside to review it with them. They still passed and got their cards.
It's because each instructor is different and my son's was obviously a dick. When I did mine there was a dad that pretty much took the test for his son and the instructor allowed it. I don't really agree with that but my son has been hunting along side me since he was about five and loves it. I think he is probably safer than alot of people that I see out hunting. But because he is unable to read the test that well he should not be able to hunt.
Mine pretty much told you what was wrong and sent you back to fix them at least for the little kids
If you go to the DOW website (URL below), choose hunting, hunter education, you can get a list of all the classes in the state, how to sign up, ect. Ive taken several in recent years with kids, in smaller settings such as wal-mart, however the best was given at the DOW offices on broadway (a full Sat & Sun). All of the istructors i've encountered had the attitude that nobody would leave with out their safety card, even if it meant one on one time. They even have on-line courses. I recomend the courses to everyone, they are the cheapest safety class you'll ever take. If you have an opportunity to re-take with a kid, the time is well spent. They will even set up a custom course for you at your location if you can get enough kids to sign up. We recently did it for my kids football team. They provided an instructor and the local Elks lodge donated the conference room.
David - My oldest son had originally taken his course in CA, and failed, the instructor was a jerk, but i suspect this experience and yours is probably rare. He took the course out here and had an excellent experience. In some instances I was able to read the test questions to the kid.

My 9yr old just finished his at sportsmans in loveland. He goes to the range tomorrow and that's it. The instructors really helped the youngsters out.
My 14 year old daughter completed her testing today and passed with a 94%.. She had a great time doing it except for the 19 year old boys hitting on her. She should be happy come november.

Might be the closest to you, they give them monthly in the evenings and the one I took my daughter to had a lot of kids in it.
And Gander gives you a gift card which miraculously is worth exactly what the fee was for the hunter safety class... win win.
My 10 year old son did his on 6060 Broadway at the Co dow... The guys that did the class were good with the kids...[Beer]
