Any good stores on preparation supplies? There used to be what I thought to be a good one in Littleton called the "Ready Room" I think, a few years ago. When I went to the spot where it was (very close to ACC) it was a completely different place, an insurance company now I think.
Anyone know what happened to it and where other similar stores are?
Ready room closed down and sold all his items here (on this site) over the last year. I bought a bunch of shelving from him.Quote:

Well that sucks, I thought he had a cool store. I thought the location kind of sucked but otherwise would think that a store like that would attract business. But then again, I am no business man.
Some good sources for food prep are the LDS sites. I think there's one in Aurora.
You can get #10 cans with stuff like rice,wheat,beans etc. They are really affordable since basically they're just trying to cover costs. [Beer]

Also: Dollar store 1st aid canned goods ect. Walmart has good prices on Mountain house pouches(7 year shelve life). Cabelas has #10 cans of MH.
Would think that an actual store front would be horrible for OPSEC?
Could be, but credit/debit leave a trail. Just hide your stores and break them up into different places.Quote:

No disrespect to survival homestade of course.. and I am over exaggerating.
Nevertheless, I have been looking for a good source of reading on preparedness and self reliance- not survival or the end of the world as we know it. I.E. always have bic lighter in your pocket just in case vs. You must buy the top of the line magnesium fire starter proven by the Ski Troopers of Norway/Swiss/Finns and the Sherpa of Mount Everest.
Any direction is well appreciated!
There is alot of neat stuff on there about making solar stuff, camping gear etc. It ain't all apocalyptic.

Everyone and there situation is unique so the "one size fits all" makes me uncomfortable. I always try to look at what the poster or person is trying to achieve. Where do they want to be and where do they want to go?
When I started this forum I said that one of the points to be made here was that this is for the Colorado area. We have needs that are much different than Texas or Florida. The threats and possible disasters we face are unique to a couple state area. We really do not give a crap about AC but heat is another matter for us.

I was in there a few years ago and most of what he had was food and water storage supplies. It was ok --But not great.
I stopped by about 6 months ago and it was stocked pretty good and his supply inventory was a lot better.
Berkey water filters--lots of books--medical supplies (even kwik clot)--food supplies were pretty good.
He has 50 and 25 lb bags of a variety of organic grains and a good supply of mylar bags and oxy absorbers.
A lot of water storage containers in various sizes and food grade buckets.
The food grade buckets are pricey ($15) but they are the good ones with screw on lids. I get mine free from King Soopers bakery dept.
If you live in the area --it's worth checking out.

I have been there. Very helpful and kind, even though I made it clear i was a "gentile" in LDS speak. They didn't appear to have equipment to loan, but they had an extensive, clean dry pack canning facility. You could pack whatever bulk goods they have available in #10 cans or mylar pouches.
