I don't know about you guys but I love cast iron pans. I think it enhances the flavor or at least the sear. I'd like to get a dutch oven (no cracks Rico) to do some chuck wagon baking.

You mean they make it out of other stuff besides Iron?
While living in TN I'd visit the Lodge factory frequently on business... come home with that new griddle or flat I never knew I needed...
I'm a fan of cast iron.. I just lack any of my own :(
Really wanna get some though.
Cant beat Dutch oven cooking when camping !! When I was a Scout leader I got the boys attention when the adult staff was eating pot roast in Dutch ovens and they were doing beans and franks for supper. In a short time they were cooking breakfast and supper in Dutch ovens on every campout. Lodge makes the best cast iron cookware. [Beer]
yeah it leaves a bigger mark when you whack somebody with it.
Yep we love it too. we have a cast iron skillet that sits permanently on our stove top and we cook on it all the time.
I always use my cast iron skillet at home and have four different kinds of dutch ovens to choose from when I camp. Biscuits by the fire in the dutch oven - YUM! Heavy as hell but OH so great to cook with.

Wagner Ware dutch Oven with trivet and basting drip lid the older the better.
Love the stuff for cooking and a tiny bit of a collector.
Got a nice collection of it. Some of them are approaching 100 years old or older handed down from my grandpa.
We used to use a cast iron skillet to pop our popcorn in. Was especially good when that corn was popped in bacon grease. Yummm.
Cast iron fan here. [Wave]
I learned to bake/cook, on an open fire, with a dutch oven. Used to make a mean pot of beans and salt pork in a 5gal cast pot. Use a skillet and 10" griddle almost every day. I even have the corn shaped cornbread molds somewhere.
I still haven't forgiven my mother for getting rid of my great grandmother's cast iron skillet set.

Bought one in Old Mexico over 35 years ago! Less than 3 bucks! Has been in use since! Great cornbread and pancakes. Cook rice in it also! Great tool!

we do all our cooking on cast iron. i have many different pots, pans, waffle makers, etc. my wife makes my waffles 2 or 3 times a week on either the stover or the griswold. they make waffles better than any restaurant, I guarantee it. (and she uses cinnamon and chocolate chips).

I have a small cast iron pan. I use it from time to time. But the pan that gets the most use is a wok-type pan that I bought with a gift card from my sister.
We have several cast iron pots, griddles and a huge steel omelet pan. They all work great but they need a little care. Soap never touches them and they are dried on the stove immediately to prevent rust.

I've considered the whole TEOTWAWKI scenario and came to the conclusion that only good cast iron cookware will last any length of time.
My wife makes really good things to eat with the cast iron stuff.
Me personally...yup, the hot pocket option.
I picked up a big 'ol griddle at the salvation army today for $4. The hard part is what to cook first on it. Burgers, bacon, pizza? So many choices so little stomach.
Good thing about cast iron and the little woman..
It's Heavy, so she has to wind up before throwing so you can usually get the hell outa the way before launch.
I have about 10 different cast iron pots, pans and oven. The wife went and bought a new glass top stove and I'm not alowed to use them...[Mad]
I am a collector of Griswold cast iron, or more of an accumulator of the stuff. I have 20 plus pieces of Griswold cast iron. One can still find Griswold cast iron on Ebay. I have bought and sold the stuff there.
The new Lodge cast iron comes pre-seasoned from the factory. All of my Lodge brand dutch ovens were bought before the factory started pre-seasoning their cast iron.
