The only fight I've seen was back in February when I wa at JRTC. I think it was a title match or whatever it's called. Regardless, it was the main event. Can't remember who was fighting, but the one guy kicked the other guy in square in the face and knocked him out. Sweet kick, but I was kinda disappointed. I expected more of a fight. Oh well.

Been a fan of MMA since UFC #1. Started my son when he as 6 with Easton Brazilion Jui-Jitsu (Renzo Gracia student). He stuck with it for 3 years but turned it in for basketball. His teacher is Eliot Marshal, who had a role in the UFC tv show and fought a few times. If he fought like he trained he'd be wearing a championship belt.
I'm almost as much of an MMA junkie as I am a football junkie. I watch just about every chance I get. I haven't had the chance to go to a live event yet but seems like every month my TV bill has some pay-per-view event on it. While I really prefer the UFC, I have been watching a lot more Strikeforce lately too. Waiting for the day when the UFC gets a womens class going. The fight I would love to see the UFC make happen (even if it is a catch-weight bought) would be Anderson Silva vs. George St. Pierre. Both of those guys are running through their weight class and I would love to see them fight each other even if no titles were at stake. Either that or Silva needs to make the move up to light heavy-weight and maybe find some competition there. (I realize he dominated his one and only light heavy-weight bout but look who he fought- there is better talent in that division he could have faced)

I like Strikefore too. There's been talk about a womens class in the UFC for a long time now but I don't see it happening since Strikefore already has it. I would think it probably doesn't make sense business-wise for the UFC to have a womens class since Zuffa owns both organizations now. But who knows . . . . I'd love to see a lot more of Gina Carano either way.Quote:

I had to work early so I wasn't able to watch the fights last night. I looked up the play by play on Sherdog this morning though. Reading about the Rua vs Griffin fight made me have to search it out. I found it, watched it. I kind of had that embarrassed feeling for Griffin while watching it. He looked horrible. You think that was just nerves or what?Quote:

I'm with ray1970, its tied for football with me. I order just about every MMA event there is and I always go to the local stuff. One of good personal friends is Brandon 'Rukus' Thatch and he's a local guy who I think has the ability to go bigtime. He actually just won an AR from Daniel Defense for winning his last fight.

Ring of fire takes place at the Broomfield events center, fight to win takes place at the national western complex, then there is a venue at te red lion hotel in the northfield/stapleton area. Red and jerrys in littleton has them and I have also gone to a fight at some arena in Colorado springs. The major local fight promotors are ring of fire, fight to win, rocky mountain bad boys, and I think full force fighting. I know that there is one that I am forgetting though.
The next fight that I am going to is fight to win : zombies. It is at the western national complex on Oct 21st. Broomfield event center has Ring of Fire. The best fight I've ever seen was at a Ring of Fire event. I wish it was on video.
The first UFC fight I ever saw was Randy Coture vs. Tim Silva. I've seen pretty much every fight since then, up until December of 2010 when I started working weekends. My lady got the fights last night, but by the time I got home, I only saw Jamboun vs. the guy with the trout on his back. I missed every single fight that I wanted to see. :(

The championship fight was a bit of a letdown, but the other big name fight on the card was Donald Cerrone vs Jamie Varner (the two hate each other, makes for great entertainment). Cerrone kicked the shit out of Varner... at one point he gave him a running knee to the face. The fact that it was a cowboy beating the hell out of some douchebag city boy made it even better.
Best part was I got free floor level tickets, drank for free all night, and ended up sitting next to Cerrone's smoking hot cousin who invited me to the afterparty.

For entertainment, I absolutely love MMA. Was active in it and had a pretty good record for 7 years, till I signed my first contract with the Army and decided I didn't want to risk an injury... same reason I stopped riding bulls.Quote:

Andersen is a bad man, he is getting older but he doesn't take damage in fights. He seems to train right, you don't hear about injuries in training camp like all the other fighters these days, so I don't see any reason why he can't fight for 10 more years unless he gets bored. I really only see about 6 fights that make sense for him though, Stann and Sonnen are both going to get a shot. I think Sonnen should get the first chance because he did work over Silva pretty well but I really don't think that did anything but wake Silva up and I don't think Stann is quite ready yet. And maybe Leben, he has improved a ton since that loss to Silva. Then I think its up to 205 for Silva, I think Shogun would be a good start, then Rashad or Jon Jones, then the other. I think the UFC going Back to Brazil next year will be the only chance we have to see St Pierre vs Silva, it will give St Pierre a chance to bulk up and maybe get a warm up fight at 185. I'm afraid that the St Pierre Silva fight could be a boring fight, Silva likes counter striking, I don't think Georges' jab them to death gameplan will work against Silva. I don't think Georges has that killer extinct right now, he seems to be fighting not to lose lately. That may change after the Diaz fight, I don't think Diaz will win but he will take the fight to Georges and hopefully beat him a little to bring out that killer instict he used to have.

Also, a guy I went to high school with Tyler 'Thunder' Toner fights out of Aurora and is coming up.

EDIT: Just watched the video, that is definitely the guy we saw.
