In addition to the shitload of oil we're sitting on top of here in the US and not using (20+ years worth at current consumption rates, I have links for this somewhere... and this is excluding the SPR), it turns out there's enough nat gas in (under?) country to last us a few centuries and even eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.

I don't know about this issue being oppressive, but I beleive they're trying to save "our" fossil fuel until the other sources dry up... Which is pretty fuckin stupid, because if we get to that point we got more trouble than we need..
Yeah, down the road, if we and canada are the last hold outs for oil, and gas, you can expect interference from outside our country, well, kind of like Iraq!

I would definately call it oppressive. The EPA has blocked an oil pipeline from Canada to the US, the government has tried to stop drilling in the gulf, the government is trying to take away Exxon's lease after a big find in the Gulf... all while pushing a worthless "green" agenda.Quote:

To expand on that last comment... only about 15-20% would be emotionally capable of actually taking a life, and those who do are mostly individuals who have killed before, and most of those would be ones who have killed in a military capacity since while your a hardcore gangbanger might have more experience fighting an urban guerilla war as a guerilla fighter, he probably won't have the motivation or resolve to fight an insurgent war against an invader.
Put a man's back against the wall and you'll be surprised what he's ready to do. The majority of gun owners can infact hit targets without prior .mil training. Those who've killed on a .mil capacity started somewhere...just sayin.
I've been out to the range with several of my friends who've seen combat and I was surprised how many of them shot worse than my wife (to their credit, she's a pretty good shot).
You'd be shocked at what he ISN'T willing to do.
I'm not talking about punching holes in paper or mannequins or even performance in training exercises. I'm talking about killing another human being... something which we as a species have a strong resistance to, even greater than that of self-preservation in some cases. The resistance to killing one's own species can be seen in every life form throughout the animal kingdom, including ours, and doing so generally puts great emotional stress on the killer.
This "safety catch" that prevents us from killing our own species without being conditioned to do so is a large part of why the camel-f*ckers can't shoot worth a crap. They probably don't shoot much worse than an American would in the same position when practicing on their ranges, but as seen with soldiers in WWII, at the last second they almost subconsciously shoot high or sometimes don't shoot at all. On the other side of this, our soldiers can kill more easily because they have been conditioned to be able to.
In WWII, WWI, the Civil War, the battles of Napoleon, etc., examination and study by many different people and groups has consistently shown disproportionally low casualty rates compared to the effectiveness of the weaponry and troops. In fact, in all of these wars, the risk of becoming a psychiatric casualty from extended exposure to combat or falling ill from disease was greater than being killed by the enemy, and most of the casualties inflicted on the opposing force were done by artillery and other long range weaponry that allowed the killer to create a psychological and mechanical barrier between himself and his victim.
Based on hit rates in training, a 200 man regiment in the Civil War should have been able to hit 120 enemy soldiers at 75 yards in the first volley of fire, which would equal 480 hits per minute (assuming a ROF of 4 RPM). Yet, even at the average range of contact of 30 yards, a regiment only killed 1-2 enemies per minute.
The only way to overcome this resistance that exists in all but 1-2% of the population is through training in such a way that's more like conditioning, in which you desensitize the trainee to the act of killing, justify it to them, and dehumanize their targets. This Pavlovian-like conditioning of soldiers raised the firing rate from 15-20% in WWII to 50-55% in Korea and even to 90-95% in Vietnam (which is why you start seeing a huge increase in the number of PTSD cases coming from 'Nam compared to previous wars, as more soldiers were killing and thus experiencing the common psychological repercussions of doing so).

My dad works for a small western US based oil company. The Federal Government illegally breached their contract on land sold by the BLM and told his company they were taking the land back so that they could not drill there. We have no refineries built recently which hurts and we don't have the infrastructure necessary to ship oil and gas to where the prices are highest to get the best profit for the small companies, who in turn will do more exploration and in turn find more oil and gas.
If we were to get it from our own country it would drive prices of oil down by the barrel significantly, in turn would drop gas prices and our good old boys in the white house would not make there cut, there is were the problem is.

Those numbers are real... almost unbelievable, until you dig deeper and understand the psychology and human nature behind it. Pretty interesting, eye opening stuff. North Dakota has untapped oil reserves greater than Saudi. All of US has more than all of the Mid-east. If the EPA were nullified by 10th Amendment and/or Commerce clause, or any other means under the 2nd amendment, or a Constitutional Convention, by the States, the production issue would go away.
As an example of their idiocy, the EPA has declared hay to be a polluntant for ranchers and farmers. Although I think it is part of the communist plan to destroy all capitalism.
