I heard they're pretty picky with ammo. CCI mini mags work best I think.
Try using different ammo. I have heard that they can be picky sometimes but only on the older models.
This, For some reason, mine has no appetite for "premium" ammo. But, will throw the lead out of bulk Remington all day.Quote:

Ive never heard of different ammo failing to load into the chamber though, is this what your guys' are doing with different ammo too?
Yup. As said before, these things can be picky! I had all sorts of problems and started trying out the Remy bulk and my problems went away. Went back to some of the other stuff and the problems came back.
I believe a lot of it depends on what and how the firearm was broken in as well. Mine was bought used so I couldn't tell you about how it was broken in.
What works for someones may not work for others as well.

To answer your question as accurately as possible - I was getting FTEs, DFs, and FTFs.

Make sure it is immaculately clean and lubed with a quality lube. Check the condition of the chamber looking for any burrs from dry firing or anything else that can hinder feeding. One thing a lot of folks don't realize is these little fellers are sensitive to technique-no limp wristing.
Buy 50 round boxes of different ammo till you find something it likes for a diet.
That being said IMHO these and the SIG Mosquito are abhorrent little pistols.
If I want a semi 22 pistola the Ruger MKII-III would be my only choice.

i only have problems after about 500 rounds or so (when it is dirty). i have all walther mags, some have the finger grip and some dont, can use remington ammo or anything else, no issues. I just have to keep it clean.

Ok... I have a P22 and the kids shoot it a lot. I shoot federal bulk pack hollow points and CCI mini mag ammo. Both have worked fine for me.
rem 22 LR is netorious for too much wax on the bullet and loose fitting bullets. I have seen a lot of guns puke on those things. If you have any wax built up in the chamber or feed ramp, it will puke.
The last bulk pack of Win 22 HPs I looked at were pretty waxie and had fairly inconsistent hollow points. I sell ammo at walmart 5 times a week. I see a LOT of 22 rounds.
Lastly, clean and lube the gun. It wants lube on the rails. Don't put that sissy rem oil, CLP or other thin garbage on it. Put motor oil or ATF fluid on the rails. I'm partial to synthetic 10w30 myself. DON'T get lube into the safety selector or hammber block mechanisms. Too much oil in it and the safety can flip to safe during the recoil of shooting. Keep it dry and it will work fine.
Not every gun and not every box of factory ammo are made equal. There are variances in manufacture, especially in the arena of 22LR firearms.Quote:

I'm surprised to hear about these being finicky. Walther did have to revamp their mags several years ago, so if you have the old mags that could be part of it. You should be able to google it and get the part number for the improved mags. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll get into my safe and get the info to you. I've owned 4 of these and other than the first which had the old mags, they have all functioned great with all ammo from CCI to any bulk to Remington subsonic.
