Liked it better than the Glock 17http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...arnut/xd91.jpg
Very nice. I have an XD9 and XD45ACP and like them both.
I probably ran 500 rounds through it with no malfs. Very satisfied. :P
Yeah took a fairly new shooter out a few weeks ago who snagged a 4" XD45 (the price was right and I did recommend .45 to him) so it was my first chance to shoot one. I fell in love. It's my next pistol for certain. For me the smaller grip size really brings it out infront of the Glocks, damn smooth trigger and the mag feeding felt smooth and had a positive click to indicate seating. I think if you're looking at Glocks, you really would do yourself a dis-service by not looking at the XD's as well.
+1 on XD's. Had to sell my XD9 which was a very nice gun. I still have the XD45 that (for me at least) handles better than a Glock although I admit it's been shot very little. Would echo everything BadShot said about the XD's. Not a 1911 trigger ... but then it isn't a 1911 and wasn't meant to be :)
+3 on the XD's I've got two of them. 357 SIG Service and 9MM Sub Compact.
just curious on why you like it better than the glock...
The XD has the additional safety on the backstrap. It has the indicator on the back of the slide telling you it's cocked. It has the chambered round indicator on top of the slide. I had the opportunity to shoot them both at the same time and just liked the way the XD felt in my hand and shot. I like Glocks too. There's a lot more accessories available for the Glocks. Don't be surprised if one day I'm posting a pic of my new Glock.

Meaning no disrespect to XD owners
they seem to be decent pistols
They almost had me with the 5" XD45
But...heeelllloooo M&P45!
And if you keep waiting, there will always be something sexier..FN has a .45 coming out too.. can you wait for that? Or are you going to wait for the new slim form factor Block.. er Glock?
Just kidding man... actually I really like my XD45C, not getting rid of my SIG by any stretch, but the XD is a fine evolution to the concept that Glock started and you'll be hard pressed to find something that performs as well out of the box in the price range.
Yea, But, They don't have one in 10mm yet. :P
I have talked to people that handled both the FN and the new "slim"21
I can live without either
I wish Glock would get a clue and make a 5" single stack "evolution" of the G36...most guys I know would buy one
I like the price point on the xd's....and would consider one before a Glock (in .45 only) but I am not crazy about the grip safety
That is the only "improvement" over the Glocks and not one I approve of
Only time will tell if their durability is equal to/ greater than Glocks
Marlin...it will be interesting to see if they ever make a 10mm...I tend to doubt it
Well there would be a bit more to the XD evolution that a second safety.. which does actually address two of the major design concerns about the Glock (First being AD's from the trigger snagging on reholstering or the like, second being pure human perception and the concern over the lack of a manual safety or secondary and obvious - re: 1911 like and implimented - safety apparatus.
The grip angle I would actually submit as the more important evolution of any on the XD. The Ergonomics far exceed the Glock IMHO and are far more in line with the 1911 grip. This does actually address one of the more popular concerns regarding the Glock design.. 1911 folks really do espouse the ergonomic differences as one of the main reasons for not being overly thrilled with the Glock form factor.
But each shooter has their own preferences, I would just say that the XD is the rising star here. They've got several proven years already under the brand belt. I would think that if there were major design or functional issues that they would have already come to light considering the user base and general access to centralized communication about the weapon system via the internet. We live in a far different time than when Glock really started taking a bite into the pistol market.
I also agree that I don't see XD making 10mm .. then again I seriously doubt that you'll see a 10mm from Smith in the M&P line. As the name indicates it's Military and Police (granted that is more marketing than anything else) neither of those types of organizations utilize 10mm as a typical standard.
Where did someone get a chance to fondle the FN? Last I read it wasn't even out of proto-typing, but it's been a little bit since I checked.
