Noticed on the blotter today...

Incident Date December 2, 2006 Time 6:12:00 PM Division Stetson Hills Shift II
Title Other Location 6070 Prairie Hills View #205
Summary Officers were dispatched to the above location regarding a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Upon arrival, Officers contacted a male who had accidentally shot himself with a .22 caliber pistol in the calf area of his leg. The male stated he had just finished cleaning the gun and after placing a magazine in the gun, the gun discharged, hitting him in his leg. The male was transported to Memorial Hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Title Other Location 1424 Flycatcher Ln.
Summary On the above date and time officers from the Sand Creek Division were dispatched to the above address in regards to the discharge of a firearm. Upon arrival on scene officers discovered that the 20 year old victim had accidentally discharged a 45 Cal semi-automatic pistol striking himself in the right leg just above the knee. The victim was transported to Memo Hospital and was being treated for his injury at the writing of this ETACS.

Don't those people ever check to see if it's loaded?

When I first got out of the Army I worked as a security guard and we had a contract with the jail to watch inmates at the local hospital. One Easter morning I was awakened by the phone @ 3:30AM to go to the hospital. Apparently one our local gang bangers took offense at being stopped by CHP and took a shot at them with a sawed off shotgun. He missed and was struck 3x center mass with 10mm. In excess of 300lbs, he survived his wounds to spend the rest of his life carrying a colostomy bag in prison. I, on the other hand was GREATLY offended that my tax dollars were being spent on said scum bag and I voiced my opinion loudly to the attending doctor who only responded with dirty looks.
