"On May 14, NASCAR admitted that the organization is considering penalties for members of the Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman teams because of the incident at Darlington Raceway. There was an altercation between the two teams at the May 12 race. Now, NASCAR claims it is evaluating the information and will probably fine both of them."
And they wonder why drivers don't want to wreck each other. They don't want to get penalized.

I'm with TS12000 ... I've always found NASCAR to be incredibly boring.
Wish there was more coverage of WRC in the States but there is this.

I love WRC- and since I don't have cable I have to use my google-fu and arrr powers to see any racing I actually give a damn about- like Le Mans, GT, WRC, and MotoGP... NASCAR just seems too... easy? C'mon, a 3rd grader can do left turns all day, I'd like to see more chicanes, hairpins, and esses!Quote:

But as a spectator sport it's pretty boring.
This is why I like the American Le Mans and Rolex Sports Cars series. Different classes racing at the same time going left AND right. I want my ashes spread out on the corkscrew at Laguna Seca when I die! I just wish that Miller Motorsports Park in Utah had better success with both series. Now MMP only has a couple major events.
True, not trying to demean them, but in terms of excitement and *perceived* skill (I recognize it's actually hard, not a stock car, but I did get a chance to drive a car on a speedway and it is harder than it looks) I'm not impressed, it's just not that fun to watch.Quote:

back to the original topic--that "boys have at it" directive was strained when Busch blew through Newman's pits. To fine them for responding to this provocation is absurd, and you're right, a reason alot of these guys are neutered.
Newman's comments about the "chemical imbalance" were hilarious. Stewart's comments about the wrecking at Talladega 2 weeks ago were also great.
Newman, Stewart and Harvick are always good for a hilarious quote.
I've watched NASCAR for more than 30 years, but i just can't stand the announcers these days. I'll watch the racing, but when there's a break for the announcers to ramble, i'll change the channel.
I love all sorts of racing, WRC, F1, ALMS, Le Mans, German Touring Car, Austrailian SuperCar--whatever. I love to hit up the local tracks, too--I try to go to the ones i know about at least once a year (Colorado National, I-76). I'm hoping to get to the I-25 speedway, Lamar speedway and Phillips County Speedways this year, too).
the URSS sprint cars are going to be at Phillips County speedway and I76 speedways this year
A bunch of visually diverse but mechanically identical cars turning left?

I love Laguna Seca (well at least in watching races there and driving it in video games)- I would kill to take a RUF RGT-8 for a few laps on it too, but last time I drove a track, which was in a 1994 Ford Escort Cosworth, I found that it was possible to poo yourself while still having a raging... uh... what's a family friendly version of "guy happiness!" I was watching them race at Laguna Seca on Sunday and it was just phenomenal. Corvettes, Porsches, BMWs and prototype cars all mingling together on a tight, twisty track. And all the associate sound that goes with it.

Juan Pablo Montoya main race was with CART, and went to Formula1. He did good with Williams-BMW, but went to McLaren Mercedes Benz. He was very aggressive driver.
Then, he got sick of F1 politics (or shall I say McLaren-Mercedes).
I think Juan Pablo Montoya is more suitable for nascar than F1.
