Basically the after
the election legislation has started.
One of the new govenor's high priority projects has been introduces as
SB07-034. It modifies CCW legislation so that reciprocity will only
be valid for residents of the state that issued the permit. This
means that folks here that carry on permits from other states (most of
my friends are either Utah or Florida) will need other options.
why the hell should it matter where someone got their ccw?
they passed the required background checks and more.
stupid f'n politicians.
of course I know that by saying it here, it's like preachin' to the choir!

yea those are great places to move but the dems are going to try it on a fed level and it wont matter where ya live. unfortchanatly I think the only thing that would wake these people up would be an ugly RED DAWN scenerio of course they would try to use it for there advantage as well . ya cant teach stupid.

Oh, and as another note, having moved from Texas, its hardly a CCW Mecca. Its so bloody hot there you can't wear enough clothing in the summer (which lasts from March to October) to conceal a firearm.

Here is what I just sent to Sen. Nancy Spence (R-CO 27th)
I am writing to you with the simple intent of asking that you, as my representative, as the representative for many Colorado gun owners, please take a long and hard look at this potential legislation (SB07-034). While we at this time are not convinced that this will make it out of committee, we would ask that you do all in your power to stop this first step towards more useless gun control, blatant suppression of our constitutional rights in Colorado.
Myself and many thousands of gun owners like me are increasingly concerned that our new Governor is entirely too intent on curbing our Federal Second Amendment rights, much less our State Constitutional rights.
In closing again I ask that you keep in mind during your term that there is a significant number of gun owners and enthusiast in your district and our great state and that we want and need your help. Be our voice and do not allow anti-gun legislation to infringe upon our freedoms!
We do not want to see you or any other elected official wasting time or energy on curbing our freedoms. Rather we would rather see you take the noble road and strive to improve education, health care and the thousands of other important issues that can help Colorado move forward in the 21st. Century.

And Lo and Behold today I receive a personal response from Senator Spence. Must say that all by itself impressed me.. I know.. strange, a politician actually taking the time to response to a constituent!
Anyway here is her response...
Thank you for writing about your concerns regarding SB 34. Last week I
spoke with Steve Schreiner, the NRA legislative liaison at the capitol about
this bill and at that time, in the form the bill was introduced, he
indicated that the NRA was not likely to support it. His comment was that
the Atty General makes these types of decisions and that is where they
should be made.
Rest assured, in my eight years in the legislature, I have always supported
the 2nd amendment and have voted to protect the rights of Colorado's gun
owners. It's pretty early in the session to know how new legislators will
vote on gun issues and what pressure will be put on them by the Democrat
majority members to follow gun-control-advocate Sen. Ken Gordon in the
senate.
Maybe SB 34 will be a "test case" so we'll have an indication of what will
follow.
