What would you guys put in a range kit in the way of AR specific tools/spare parts to keep a shooting session from going bad? :?:

firing pin, bolt ejector and extractor springs. broken case remover, take down cleaning rod. if you get a squib round you can remove it. the rod will also remove a stuck round. the broken case tool will hopefully assist you in removing a sheared case.
anything else goes wrong and your day is pretty much done.
Thanks Jim

:?: Is there any enterprising company or individual that sells it in a kit?
I need one also and I would rather buy it all at once.
Thanks
DPMS sells a complete spring kit I have one. I then added some other misc. parts as stated above.Quote:

Little 2 oz bottle of Slip2000
And a rod as stated above
And make certain your carrier key is properly staked- a common problem with tier 2/3 weapons

AR's are pretty dependable, and you have to shoot the hell out of one for it to break...
Meaning, The little bitty screws may work loose, turning Your fancy semi auto AR into a single shot. Yes I have first hand experiance. :mrgreen:Quote:

Jim...exactly my point
I don't like messing with dinky pins at an outdoor (or most indoor) range
and little springs...no thanks...I am way too clumsy
A properly staked carrier key

Go to Home Depot and get one of the little canvas tool bags to hold everything. Mine's about four inches square by about twelve inches long. Here's what I keep in mine (I've just gotten into black rifles and have a XCR so haven't added anything specific for it yet).
Good screw driver kit
Set of drift pin punches
Small hammer with brass and plastic tips
Small tube of oil
Small bottle of Hoppe's #9
Small box of gun swabs (about 1 inch square)
Boresnakes for 9/.38/.40.45/.22
Spare grip screws
I work on all my Sigs and haven't had occasion to need any spare springs, etc. (yet). I don't do complete detail strips at the range, so leave the spare roll pins, etc. at home.
Reading the above, I'm going to take the advice offered and add a take-down cleaning rod for the XCR. It's supposed to have a bullet-proof bolt and extractor based heavily on the AK so I'm not sure what other spare parts might be needed for it - although if you take off the grip in the field and lose the little spring for the safety I'm not sure what the effect would be. The spring powers the safety detent and for sure it wouldn't stay in the Safe position, but I don't know if recoil would knock it out of Fire position while shooting. I'm not inclined to experiment.
By the way, the same canvas bag easily holds a dozen 30rd magazines with room for more.
Thank you! Never could get anyone to say what exactly the hell that meant.Quote:

I saw a post where a PD recently got a dozen Bushmasters and none were properly staked...one was actually loose
Other than bad ammo carrier keys and bolt breakage are two of the biggest reasons for an AR to go down hard
This guy sells a really good staking tool...a little pricey

he just came out with a simpler one that goes for $70
Found out that Bushmaster has a couple of different kits of spare parts in their catalog.Quote:
