Can we use this thread to update when shooting/fire bans are lifted since it finally rained?
I'm just waiting for the campfire ban to be lifted. I just can't bring myself to go camping without a good campfire!
Yes, should be stickied, can you sticki it?
im partially afraid the libs might not allow shooting all summer. hope im wrong. if anyone hears anything be sure to post. i know what you mean about the camp fire im the same way
PACMAN89 gave a call to the Forest Park Rangers and was told it'll take 3 solid days of rain for them to lift the fire ban...
Of course, many counties and areas of the National Forest, etc. still have fire bans in effect.

(CNN) -- Much-needed rain and forecasts predicting cooler and wetter weather prompted Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper to lift a statewide fire ban Sunday.
"Mother Nature is finally giving us some relief," Hickenlooper said in a statement. "Even though the 2012 wildfire season is far from over and still challenging, we believe conditions are such that local authorities and federal land managers ought to resume control over fire bans in their jurisdictions."
A number of Colorado counties have fire bans in place, which will remain unchanged by Hickenlooper's action, his office said.
Colorado has been plagued by several major fires recently, including the devastating Waldo Canyon blaze, which scorched more than 18,000 acres since beginning June 23 and destroyed 346 homes in Colorado Springs. The fire -- the most destructive in Colorado's history -- was 98% contained as of Sunday, officials said.
The High Park fire, which burned more than 87,000 acres and destroyed nearly 260 homes in northern Colorado, was 100% contained, officials said.
Two other fires, the Weber fire and the Little Sand fire, were at 90% and 40% containment, respectively, as of Sunday, the governor's office said. No new fires were being monitored or supported by the Colorado Office of Emergency Management.
The statewide fire ban, issued June 14, applied to open burning, including campfires, warming fires, charcoal grill fires, fused explosives and private use of fireworks, officials said.
More than 60 Colorado counties were forecast to move to moderate or low danger over the next week, although a few counties continue to experience high fire danger, the governor's office said. The wildfire season will continue for a few more months, and the governor will reactivate the fire ban if needed.
The U.S. Forest Service, Department of the Interior, Defense Department and the Federal Emergency Management Agency were providing support to Colorado and other states affected by wildfires and flash flooding, authorities said Sunday.
President Barack Obama on June 28 approved a disaster declaration for Colorado, as well as federal assistance for victims of the High Park and Waldo Canyon fires.
On Monday, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar will visit Colorado Springs to survey wildfire response efforts and thank those battling the blaze, authorities said.
Not much is changing around here.

Most counties still have enacted Fire Bans that are greater than the Statewide Ban. Wouldn't mind the shooting ban to be lifted though.

While this moisture is great, realistically it does very little to lower the overall fire danger. Short term, great but all we need is one or two weeks of 80-90's and little humidity and we are right back in the same spot we were two weeks ago.
Pollytickians sure are great at knee jerk reactions aren't they..........
I'm still gona be a grade A+ Asshole!! I see anything I don't aprove of here in the hills. I'm gona call *CSP First, and shoot 2ND!! [Coffee]
I'm seeing all the fire restriction stuff and in the process reading what each county and national forest has restricted. I am not seeing shooting bans or am I just missing it?
At least in Park County (the only one where I've really been paying attention): http://parkco.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=32
And around Foulplay, it's damn dry.
I am pretty critical of the governor, but I want to make it clear that I think he did a great job pretending to take a critical action in a great time of need, and then appropriately lifting the ban once the state got some rain. Good job guy.
Actualy this thread was first if you want to split hairs.
Does anyone know of any place that the ban on shooting is lifted....maybe even perhaps campfires (wishful thinking)?
Look forward to shooting bans to happen every summer from this point forward.

Should show up there when lifted. Is even a rss link if you use that
I am anxiously awaiting more info on this. I am going camping this weekend
This is also the proper place for this thread.
It looks like Pike and San Isabel National Forests Cimarron and Comanche National Grasslands has gone back to Stage 1 fire restrictions as of July 12th.

Bruno Gulch looks to be closed to shooting. Does this mean the South Site is open! If so, be cool. No exploding anything. Bring lots of water, shovels and such.
Steve

South Site is definitely open. Notorius, I'm not sure when you were there, but I was there from 10-12, we were the tan pickup truck, closest to the entrance. Great day for shooting, and good to see so many people there being safe and responsible. I'll post pictures and a report in the South Site thread after I get home from work.
