I hate my landlord. Drunk comes over a few days before rent is due and hands me a sewer bill with $220 past due and tells me we are now responsible for sewer and trash. Her excuse is she is to broke to afford it anymore. In the years living here I have put more money into maintenance than they ever have. Booze is more important to them. They live next door to me and complain about my kids constantly.
Whats the lease say?

I stuffed it in his face several times over the course of my time there. It also helped me get my deposit back. I really like the idea of what others have said, DON'T PAY THE BILL! Yep, one was in the news a while back. Sex Offender had no place to live, everywhere he could was within an illegal distance from a school or day or ? something. Denver kicked him out and he was living in a camper at Walmart in Lakewood, who kicked him to Denver etc. something like that...
