I scored 2 revolvers years back when the spouse found out her husband was screwing everyone but her. Being the kind and under appreciated lady she was sold me 1) SP101 and 1) Colt DS for $400.00 Her old man was a useless dead beat who felt everyone owed him. I had no issue making sure he was "owed"
So how would a guy go about buying something like this and still protect yourself? I'm sure a BOS does no good right?
Good question. Technically, if it is stolen, and you don't know that it is, I don't believe you can get in trouble for receiving stolen property. I would, however cover your ass and check the serial if you plan on buying and you suspect it may be stolen.Quote:

Somtimes folks just need cash quick. I've gotten some exceptional deals in the past. Guy was selling a Steyr M9A1 for $500 and I offered $400 and he gave it to me.
After we met, I felt bad - he needed money cause he was out of work - offered to add some cash, but he said a deal is a deal. Great guy, great deal.
Of course, that dang Steyr is gone now, felt great in my hands, but everyime I drew from the holster, my front sight was pointing up too far :)... Traded that babe for a sweet M&P 40 w/Meprolights...
There are good deals to be found - you just have to be careful. On Armslist, check to see if they have other weapons listed, and also check a few other city listings to see if they've duplicated it in several states.
F2F - cash only, and break down that weapon and check it for problems. One guy recently bought a weapon that had no firing pin... ;)
I purchased a M11/9 SMG (local Form 4) a few years ago for $800, a real "to-good-to-be-true" type deal, but it was true and I got it.
Always worth looking into it !!

F2F and if they won't let you break the gun down, then walk away. Most people are on the up-and-up - at least that has been my experience. I've gotten some great deals from folks that I thought were way in my favor, but I'm guessing they thought the same.

Regarding breaking down, in a public place. I would send you pics of gun disassembled if that does not work, on to buyer #2. I had a "buyer' ask if he could break down a pistol, $%^& had no clue how to do it, thanks enjoy the day.
Sometimes you just have to trust the person you're dealing with.
I would say contact LE and let them know you're planning on purchasing the gun but you wanted to make sure it wasn't reported stolen... You know you can do that, right?Quote:

Sorry, I call the mfg directly. I've had great luck with everyone of them I've called in the past. I just ask if I can get information on a serial number - they transfer me to someone who looks up the information on when the gun was made, etc.Quote:
