You can't blame them for trying... Smart thinking for once on the .gov for not selling them 2/5ths of the stock they now own.
Eff GM. That's what they get for getting in bed with the government. I heard Dear Leader say GM was #1 again. How come their stock is so low? I'm so confused. I wish somebody would just tell me what to think.
thing is, does anyone really believe that GM would no longer exist if they hadn't gotten the bailout? come on, they would have gotten a nice restructuring like the airlines have gotten one by one. this was to save the unions
What I want to know is, did GM get shackled into not making Medium and HD duty trucks (over 1T) for 20 years by the remaining big 2 like they did to Chrysler during their bailout?
GM is also currently selling every single one of their Volts at a huge loss. $80K to produce and selling for $32,500, even less if you consider some of the crazy leases offered to move them. They've also shut down production to clear excess inventory because, even at crazy lease rates, they're not selling well.Quote:

No, they would have gone through bankruptcy. Oh wait, they did go bankrupt. I thought the bailout was to prevent that? And the bankruptcy was criminal. Glad I didn't have any GM bonds because the bondholders got fucked, even though, by law, they are supposed to be the first to get paid back. It was a union bailout, plain and simple. The UAW bailout was criminal...no doubt about it. The UAW is pretty much an organized crime gang anyway...just like teacher unions (Chicago, anyone?). But the UAW builds most of the Big-3 cars/trucks in the country...including Ford.
So I don't really see how (in this instance) not supporting GM is fighting the unions. If a president chooses to exercise extraconstitutional power to step in and prop up a union to save it, it's not like the consumer has a lot of choice in the matter. Except at the ballot box...every 4 years or so.
