I got 5 doves this morning at the ranch, then it started getting to dam hot. I'm going to head out there again tomorrow morning and try to get a couple more, and make some dove stew for dinner.[Dinner] if not I'll just pull out the pellet rifle and pick some off the power lines outside my house.
Got my limit by 9:30 in Ft. Lupton this morning. Maggie had fun swimming up and down the irrigation ditch retrieving my birds.http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...d/100_0937.jpg
Shot 11 doves out near Sterling on Sunday by 9:30. Then proceded to blast numerous prairie dogs for the rest of the day, even got my first double.
Decided not to hunt doves on Monday. Instead we setup a target gallery in my buddy's backyard of peaches and apples that had fallen from the tress for the kids to blast with various .22lr rifles.
Good job guys. Ya'll let me know if you need some help next time.
we went out to the ranch again today, and got 11 more doves.
I'm heading up to our Elk Camp tomorrow morning for the last week of Archery season. The weather has been so dang nice that I'm afraid the rut is late this year. I sure hope we get into them this time. Wish us luck, Lord knows we need it.[Coffee]
Best of luck Larry I seen a lot of elk on georgia pass. I also noticed they all had their horns polished I did not see anything in velvet. I also seen a ton of trees that felt the wrath of them removing the velvet.
good luck! [Beer]
Killed 2 Antelope Does in 301 special hunt, have Buck Antelope in 301 in two weeks. Have 3rd season Deer Buck in 301 and Elk. Freezer should be full.
Well Darn it all to heck! Part one of my Big Game Hunt has come to a close and all I have to show for it is a Grouse. And just as I thought the weather was just too warm and dry this year, but I really enjoyed the time in the woods. I'm hoping to see a nice big Cow during 2nd Rifle season next month. My friend Dave poked this one and one more with my junk arrows and lost two arrows. Thanks Dave LOL! I lost three arrows and broke one on three different birds, I watched one of them fly away with it stuck in it's body. It kept going down this steep cayon probably 300 yards. (Yote's will be eating good tonight) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y22...d/IMGP1501.jpg
I spent all day out in Yoder CO knocking on doors to get permission to hunt. I have never seen so many antelope in my life they are everywhere I hope I fill my tag next weekened.
I have never not filled an antelope tag but I know there is always a first time. I will report back on the outcome wish me luck guys everybody needs that hunting.
we should get to gether a small hunt of sorts... pheasants, grouse, dove ...etc.
I've had a combo license for the past several years,... have yet to use the hunting part of them.
MMMMM Moose....
Where did you see Him?
The Moose spotting's were off of Hwy-125 close to Willow Creek Pass. We saw 3 different Bulls and a few Cows with their young. I was up there cutting fire wood on Sunday with my Brother at his cabin. We saw a nice herd of about 35-Elk ( One giant Bull ) they were a long ways away so I didn't get a photo. We had a few Deer cross the Hwy on the way home. I'm going back for the 2nd rifle season and I sure hope the Elk cross the road and end up on our side by then.
In a few hours I am off to Yoder to antelope hunt see you all on Sunday.:D
the safest place for the antelope is where you'll be hunting }:D>
[Slap] I filled my tag so [Neene1].
I would post a pic but I left my camera in my hunting parteners truck. I will get it with in the next week just depends on how long I can let it hang before I have to butcher it. If the weather stays like this I will let it hang for a full week.
I used my new knife a SOG seal revolver I must say that is the best damn knife I have ever used in my entire life. That knife is incredible it made gutting so easy.
cool, buck? doe?
Doe of course since I hunt for meat and the tag is much easier to get. I am cooking the tenderloins as we speak dinner tonight is going to be good.:D
Good Shooting Tim! I'm glad to hear you got a Speed Goat. The best Antelope I've ever tasted was the one my Father - in - Law cooked a few years ago. He somehow boiled it in a Boiling Bag with a marinade. Served with mashed potatoes, gravy, onions, mushrooms and green beans. And for dessert we had a peach cobbler he made in a dutch oven, All this on an open fire at Elk Camp! Enjoy your steaks bud, can't wait to see the pics. Some cooking /grilling tip here at Ted Nugents Kill it and Grill it... http://www.amazon.com/Kill-Grill-Gui.../dp/0895261642
This is my doe. The tenderloins were really tender can't wait to eat some more of it.

HEY! THATS NOT A ©EvilBlackRifle
Got a 13" buck Sunday.
Good job Tim!
How many yards out did you take her at?
what were ya using?
This was one of my closer shots about 100 yrds. The gun is a cheap winchester ranger in 30-06 but it will put them down the same hole at 100 yrds.
Last weekend for 2nd Rifle Elk so, Off I go with gun in hand. Sure hope to at least see some Elk instead of tons of Deer & a few Moose. [39]
Good luck larry I am heading out tomarrow to give it another go. My hunting partener stayed up their all week and he got a bull tuesday night so we atleast have one elk so far. We each have a bull and cow tag.

my 3x3 contribution to this thread.[AR15]
Good Going car-15.[Beer] I came out empty handed this weekend. I saw plenty of Deer and Moose but, no Elk! Congrads to HunterCo and your hunting pard for getting some wapiti.[Beer]
Good job Car-15 I shot a 2 prong a few years ago muzzleloader best deer I ever ate.
I had no luck this weekened did not see anything not even a track. I hiked saturday morning all the way to the divide it about killed me but I was hell bent to get my elk. I now sit at home sore as hell with both my tags in the trash can. :(
I guess I cant complain I filled the antelope tag and my hunting partener filled and elk tag. half an elk and half an antelope is not so bad.
Next weekened is opening day for pheasants KS I can't wait the dog is ready to go. This year should be awsome since there was no drought.
KS was good not the best I have ever seen it but we got 33 birds in a day and a half. I have not shot that good in a long time almost every bird that came up when I broke the trigger it went down.
The ones out 60 yrds I did not do so good but I had a great time.
Here is to hunting. [Beer]
I came fairly close to hitting a 4 or 5 point buck out by Byers on the way home from the jobsite tonight. Bigass deer, just about to mosey across 36. Saw a big 3-pointer doing the same across Parker Road IN PARKER on a Saturday around noon a few weeks ago. Too bad you can't take those guys down. ;)
My dad and I are planning to go to eastern CO for pheasants day after Thanksgiving, as is our tradition. In ten years neither of us have gotten anything, and I don't expect it to change this year.
we almost limited out on quail today but the last one ran into a praire dog hole so we only got to take 15 home [Mad]

[Rant1]I'm jealous!!! My Dog wants to bite me! I haven't missed opening day bird hunting in a very long time. Sounds like you guys did pretty good. I'm still in survival mode, just trying to keep my head above water starting my own business. I hope to make it out to Neb. around Thanksgiving. Save some birds for me will ya!!!![Beer]
I took my 8 year old boy out to Cheyenne Wells Saturday for pheasant. We had a ball, and got 2 birds. At least we weren't skunked. The weather was great, but it sure was dry out there.
