Let me guess, someone was going really fast on a dirt road where there was no speed limit sign?
Anything unposted should be 25 for roadways in the springs. My rural mountain roads unposted speed is 20.
bear was doing 15mph and crashed going down a steep muddy hil and got a too fast for conditions ticket......while we were there 2 mormon dudes in a kia crashed in the excat ssame spot doing like 5mphQuote:

Just see what they offer without saying anything at all. They will probably offer something, and you really have no grounds to argue from. If she crashed doing 15, and someone else crashed doing only 5, then that is a pretty clear indication she was going too fast for conditions. I wouldn't even mention that at all.
Speed Limits
The blanket law for Colorado is "reasonable and prudent", meaning don't go faster than is safe for conditions. In addition to that, limits for certain areas, unless otherwise posted, are:
- Winding, narrow mountain highways and blind curves: 20 mph
- Central business districts: 25 mph
- Residential areas: 30 mph
- Open mountain highways: 40 mph
- Rural highways, including two lanes and four-lane divided: 55 mph, and up to 65 mph where posted
- Rural Interstates: 65 mph, and up to 75 mph where posted
Home-rule cities can also adopt a blanket speed limit for the whole town, such as 25 mph, and it will be that unless otherwise posted.
Minimum speeds are required so that drivers are going fast enough such that they are not impeding or blocking the "normal and reasonable" flow of traffic. Colorado also has a "move right" law, saying that on a divided highway with a 65 mph or higher speed limit, the left lane can only be used for passing when traffic is light enough.
Minimum speed limits can also be posted, but there aren't too many of those in the state:
Remember that no matter how good the conditions may be, if one is going faster than what is posted, it's considered a violation. It can also be a violation to be going the speed limit when that is too fast for conditions (such as screaming along at 75 in a blizzard or heavy traffic). Fines for speeding can also be doubled or subject to a minimum fine along zones posted as such. Cities can adopt ordinances to double or have minimum fines in certain areas, such as school zones. Statewide, fines are double in construction zones when posted as such.

Colorado Revised Statutes say the following:
CRS 42-4-1101(4) Any speed in excess of the lawful speeds set forth in CRS 42-4-1101(2) shall be prima facie evidence that such speed was not reasonable or prudent under the conditions then existing. "Prima facie evidence" means evidence which is sufficient proof that the speed was not reasonable or prudent under the conditions then existing, and which will remain sufficient proof of such fact, unless contradicted and overcome by evidence bearing upon the question of whether or not the speed was reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing.
42-4-1101 (2). Speed limits.
(1) No person shall drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions then existing.
(2) Except when a special hazard exists that requires a lower speed, the following speeds shall be lawful:
(a) Twenty miles per hour on narrow, winding mountain highways or on blind curves;
(b) Twenty-five miles per hour in any business district, as defined in section 42-1-102 (11);
(c) Thirty miles per hour in any residence district, as defined in section 42-1-102 (80);
(d) Forty miles per hour on open mountain highways;
(e) Forty-five miles per hour for all vehicles in the business of transporting trash, where higher speeds are posted, when said vehicle is loaded as an exempted vehicle pursuant to section 42-4-507 (3);
(f) Fifty-five miles per hour on other open highways which are not on the interstate system, as defined in section 43-2-101 (2), C.R.S., and are not surfaced, four-lane freeways or expressways;
(g) Sixty-five miles per hour on surfaced, four-lane highways which are on the interstate system, as defined in section 43-2-101 (2), C.R.S., or are freeways or expressways;

Unfortunately, the bottom line is CASH. How much they can get from you and how much you are willing to fight (court) It seems lately every 'ticket" i may or may not have been the receiver of. They all stated, if i decided to plead guilty before X date submit $$$ and they will give me a 2pt ticket. No matter how fast, 2pt's and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's about the revenue.Quote:
