Can't say I am crying over poopie pants draft dodger Nugent getting the boot, could not have happened to a "nicer" "guy".
too bad, I liked that show. nynco, you are the fucking problem, you and your liberal fuckstain friends.
[werdo][blah-blah][werdo]
was meant for nynco but sniper is a weirdo too [Coffee]
because people cant just tell their kids "no you cant watch such and such show " no one gets to watch
Whether you agree with him or not, he was getting the word out about firearms and not makiing them out to be the scary death machines
the media is making them out to be. So he was doing publicity for us and getting the word out. I can only see the gun shows being
canceled as a bad thing. YMMV[facepalm]
Here's an excerpt from an interview with Ted Nugent that was in the Oct. '77 issue of High Times (Johnny Rotten cover)
There is a similar interview in the Sept. '77 Creem magazine (interview with Susan Whitall)
High Times:
How did you get out of the draft?
Nugent:
"Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin' it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin' around, hippying down, getting' loaded and pickin' my ass like your common curs, I'd say "Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin' around in the gutters." But I wasn't a gutter dog. I was a hard workin', motherfuckin' rock and roll musician.
I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin' and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin' kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I'd drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poop, piss the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.
See, I approached the whole thing like, Ted Nugent, cool hard-workin' dude, is gonna wreak havoc on these imbeciles in the armed forces. I'm gonna play their own game, and I'm gonna destroy 'em. Now my whole body is crusted in poop and piss. I was ill. And three or four days before, I started stayin' awake. I was close to death, but I was in control. I was extremely antidrug as I've always been, but I snorted some crystal methedrine. Talk about one wounded mother *****. A guy put up four lines, and it was for all four of us, but I didn't know and I'm vacuuming that poop right up. I was a walking, talking hunk of human poop. I was six-foot-three of sin. So the guys took me down to the physical, and my nerves, my emotions were distraught. I was not a good person. I was wounded. But as painful and nauseous as it was -- 'cause I was really into bein' clean and on the ball -- I made gutter swine hippies look like football players. I was deviano.
So I went in, and those guys in uniform couldn't believe the smell. They were ridiculin' me and pushin' me around and I was cryin', but all the time I was laughin' to myself. When they stuck the needle in my arm for the blood test I passed out, and when I came to they were kicking me into the wall. Then they made everybody take off their pants, and I did, and this sergeant says, "Oh my God, put those back on! You *****' swine you!" Then they had a urine test and I couldn't piss, But my poop was just like ooze, man, so I poop in the cup and put it on the counter. I had poop on my hand and my arm. The guy almost puked. I was so proud. I knew I had these chumps beat. The last thing I remember was wakin' up in the ear test booth and they were sweepin' up. So I went home and cleaned up.
They took a putty knife to me. I got the street rats out of my hair, ate some good steaks, beans, potatoes, cottage cheese, milk. A couple of days and I was ready to kick ass. And in the mail I got this big juicy 4-F. They'd call dead people before they'd call my ass. But you know the funny thing about it? I'd make an incredible army man. I'd be a colonel before you knew what hit you, and I'd have the baddest bunch of motherfuckin' killers you'd ever seen in my platoon. But I just wasn't into it. I was too busy doin' my own thing, you know?"

Ok so being a draft dodger who poops his pants means nothing to other veterans.... ends justify the means right
Never said I respected him for that. I have no control over his cowardice. Maybe he is trying to make up for his downfall and shitty judgment then
with the Pro-2nd Amendment TV show in some way. Kinda like music I listen to....majority are left wing douches yet I enjoy the music for what it is.
Also can be said about movies, the people who make them sure hate us but sometimes you have look at things for what they are. Movies are for entertainment
music is for entertainment and Pro 2A shows are about showing the masses that guns are not the scary death dealing machines they are lied about from the media.
my personal opinion is Ted is a douche. he is a draft dodger. he went above and beyond to get out of serving his country. Now he is some flamboyant entertainer and everyone worships him. he likes guns. wow it doesnt make us brothers. just like some douche who rides a motorcycle who wants to wave at me isnt my brother.
That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. But I would also like to point out that what it shows outsiders is that gun owners are not all extreme right wingers. The more people who are middle of the road and even left wing, the better for all of you. Because it takes the issue away from being a partisan win. This whole move to make guns a right wing only thing leaves the 2nd amendment vulnerable to the pendulum of politics in this country.
the world ended one day earlier than predicted.
i agree with nynco on this.
I never could see Nugent as the face for 2A. Nugent is the scary man that these people are afraid of...even though they shouldn't be.
R. Lee Ermey on the otherhand I was saddened deeply when Lock and Load and Mail Call went away.
I agree with Kraven. While R. Lee Ermey was a character, he was not a bad one. He showed a tough side and a good side.
Nugent claims he made that entire story up to mess with the High Times staff, but in fact still had a student deferment to get out of the draft anyway. Thanks for sharing the fact he avoided the draft (hadn't heard that before), but I don't know if I believe the posted story. It sounds a lot like something The Onion would publish. http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/nugent.asp
Cassius Clay was a POS draft dodger as well, but that doesn't diminish his boxing prowess. Nugent loses his temper and makes gun-owners look pretty bad sometimes IMO, but the guy is typically informed and eloquent enough to make very good points on the subject matter. Most people have some shit in their past they aren't proud of. I'm not sure that means we should never listen to another word they say.
Nynco...not gonna lie...I thought you might have died. I was ok with that. Just thought you should know.
So you're in the camp that thinks there is no way in hell you can ever be respected when you avoid going to a war that you don't feel is justified? I mean, what if there was a war that broke out with Somalia (just spitballing) tomorrow, and they instituted a draft... you're saying you'd just raise your hand and go? Have you ever served in the military? I was raised by a woman who had 70% of the men in her HS graduating class get drafted to go fight in a war, they didn't want to go, but the draft made them. Being a veteran, I like the fact that I could volunteer on my own free will and go defend my country so not everyone had to. I also think people change. Ted may not have been a die hard patriot back then, also, you forget how unpopular of a war Vietnam was... of course now, looking back, whether or not we went, didn't really do much, so the "war" there could have been avoided. Did your mother have any children that lived?
No I take issue with his pro war hypocrisy. I take issue with Chicken Hawks.
Chickenhawk (also chicken hawk and chicken-hawk) is a political term used in the United States to describe a person who strongly supports war or other military action (i.e., a War Hawk), yet who actively avoided military service when of age.
The term indicates that the person in question is hypocritical for personally dodging a draft or otherwise shirking their duty to their country during a time of armed conflict while advocating that others do so. Generally, the implication is that chickenhawks lack the moral character to ask others to support, fight and perhaps die in an armed conflict. Those who avoid military service and continue to oppose armed aggression are not chickenhawks.
I love helicopter guys, I was stationed on a helo base for a long time. Bunch of crazy fun guys there.
DUDE!!! Are you retarded? So back when I was in High School I smoked pot, I don't now, and don't agree with it... does that make me a hypocrite or just "grown up"? Not everything is black and white and we're not zebras, we can change our stripes... Gawd, you're such a typical liberal... where is that ignore button?
No not everything is black and white. But I think that those who are the first to wave the flag and call for war.... who in their own life when called upon did not step up, are Chicken Hawks. I did not see him as the cautious type when other peoples lives were on the line.
Way to be a positive ambassador for ar-15.co Sniper7 [facepalm]
Americans need to know, gun ownership, collecting guns, shooting guns, competing with guns, hunting, having guns for protetction is open to all Americans, gay, straight, lesbian, trannys, Christians, Jews, Mormons, yuppies, hippies, liberal, conservative. I have been extremely right wing my whole life. Until the last year or two, I have realized that extremism in any form is usually not a good idea. Im still very right of center. But, these Rights belong to all of us. If we continue to be exclusionary, it will only hurt us. We need to show the "other" side, that all this is open for them too.
I'll ask again... did your mother have any children that lived?
In the best Sam Elliot impression I can muster: "You're a special kinda stupid, ain'tcha?"
A draft (WWII being an extreme exception because we were attacked) is technically unconstitutional. After 1972 we have prided ourselves on having our military be an all volunteer force. I look at that as a good thing, because there are about 60-75% of people I graduated high school with that I don't think would ever cut it in any of our armed forces. I'll ask again, have you ever served in the military?
I could ask the same of you but I am being more civil. I have no problem with someone who personally dodges the draft and later advocates for peace. He walks the walk. But someone who they themselves are not willing to stand next to another person who they are willing to send to die in battle, well I have a problem with that. Because I think that people like that dangerous to the lives of those who pledge to serve our nation.
